which format do you like better the new one or the old one

I think the new format is slightly easier to read than the old format and I very much like the, go to first unread post deal. The adds don't bother me because I don't see them.

I like it, does seem that the action has dropped off some. Betting it will be back where she was :D.

Nothing is perfect

To Tell the truth, there were some features about the control panel in the old software that I preferred. However, staying there was NOT a viable option. Groupee is no longer interested in the forum business, so one day we would have been given the "bum's rush" anyway.

All change requires adjustment. All change- good or bad, induces stress. The stress heaped upon one in a given situation does not necessarily define one's character. One's handling of that stress does.

I have no problem with someone's preference for the old software. As stated, I liked a few things better.
However, we are here now. Returning is not an option.

Google ads will probably stay in some form. They are run by a very smart machine, so they should get more and more gun specific as the Google spiders continue to crawl through our text, learning more about us.
I, too, was a bit taken aback by the cancer ads in shoo's thread, but, again, it shows that the spiders try to specifically target the audience.
The idea is to offset some of the investment and operating cost while we tune this machine into well-oiled status. I have refused ALL contributions, and will continue to do so, till the final product is achieved. I do not wish to accept donations and then switch out the product delivered to you. In other words, if you have to pay for something, you should know what you are getting.
Frankly, with my time, investment, and the Groupee bill achieving an all-time high as we have grown, I was rapidly approaching my limit of free capital to invest. To retain our content- that is, to avoid radical pruning of the data, something had to give. Those ads may be a fact of life that pay for your favorite program.
I am still not accepting donations because we are not there yet.
If you send one, you will only be increasing my work load because I will return it. Please DON'T.

I suggest you spend some time in the USER CP and the FAQ getting familiar with what you have. Most of the questions asked so far are answered in those two areas.
Yep- "If all else fails, Read the Instructions."
Did you know you have a LARGE FONT option?
Did you know you can view up to 40 posts per page? Yes, the "wasted space" stays, but you have fewer pages to view. If you are using the default setting, we are on page three here, but the 40-post setting I am using means I am still on page ONE, with room to go below this post!

You have not seen it all yet.
More features will be enabled as we progress.
Learn how to use the software, and I think you will really come to like it here.

Accomplishing the move, with our data and membership basically intact, is a major coup.
We can build an even greater thing here if we choose to. Keep your eyes on the Prize. ;)

Kind of surprises me that Google would have anything to do with this website, being as left wing as they are. Why would they in time add more gun stuff? They are totally anti-gun as far as I know. Every major leftest in politics and in hollywood chum up to Google. Just my two one dollar gold coins worth. Joe.

Oh yea, I liked the old site better but I know this one will let me find my way around soon. I still haven't figured much out yet but then I've not spent much time on it yet. I am fully behind the boss man, he knows what needs to be done to keep us all happy. Thanks Lee.

I wonder if anyone here has purchased anything from the ads yet? Looking forward to good deals on holsters and ammo but again, will Google play with us? If so, they best keep it to themselves.

Lee and all the rest of you here,

"Long ago", and in some "far away" management class, someone once gave me a piece of advice that I've found to be true. He said that any time that we experience a significant change in our routine, it takes a minimum of 30 days for us to adjust to it and adapt to some semblance of normalcy. That holds with moving into a new house, starting a new job, entering into a new personal relationship...and I would imagine it also applies to a new forum format.

The example that was given was to imagine yourself asleep in a strange hotel room. You awaken in the middle of the night and need to go to the bathroom. In the dark, and in the unknown environment, you have no idea just which way to start walking.

In other words, JUST STAY THE COURSE! It will become more comfortable.

(P. S.
Those who have lived in the same bedroom for 20 years and still don't know where to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, please disregard the previous example:confused:).

I think it looks pretty danged good so far. The colors look good.
The ad's don't bother me at all. Frankly I would have done it
a long time ago if it cost's as much to host a big forum as it appears to.
I used to think it was probably pretty cheap just guessing, but I guess
that all changes with several thousand members and lots of reads and posts. :/

I like the new format just fine. I'm used to it as it's the same as some of the woodworking forums I visit.
I really like the new post link at the top of the page.

Haven't been here for a few days, and I'll admit I was startled by the changes and I had to log on three times before I got the password thing figured out.But bottom line is we have someone here who is busting his butt to provide us with a great forum, and if change is what was needed, roll with it. Thanks!

I actually prefer the new one. It's more "standardized"; like other forums I visit. So things are easier for me to find this way.

The old format was easier because...
A. its what we were used to here
and
B. it was so outdated it was scarey.

This format is the standard that most every other forum I go to uses. Its quite easy to learn and is loaded with some great features. The ability to PM is worth the time to figure it out. Give it a week and you'll like it.

OLD GUYS!

Go to the bottom of this page and change the Font Size from "-- Default Style" to "-- Large Fonts"!

This made a big improvement for me.....

I'll vote for this format. It's the same software that most of the other boards (that I frequent) use.

I like the new format much better, I was about to quit visiting this forum with the old format, now I'm here to stay. This should have been made a poll.

The new format is fine - no one has asked us to pay for it and if Handejector likes it - it's his dime. People hate to change what they're used to and comfortable with, even for something better - particularly if there's a learning curve.

Since we are all creatures of habit, I think this should be asked, say about one month from now. Once everyone learns the ins and outs, everyone will love the new format.
