Which gun? XDs or Shield? (9mm)

I have both.

Im not sure about the round count through my XDs 45 but it has been flawless. I don't mind the grip texture. I normally shoot 100 or 200 rounds at each range visit and have no complaints about anything. I wish I shot better groups with it. I am still practicing and improving as often as I can.

I just bought my shield on Friday so I haven't made it out to shoot it yet. Im sure the range has some weird hours due to the holidays these past few weeks so I will have to call and see when I can go shoot. This gun feels great in my hand. I may add a talon rubber grip to my XDs to make it feel similar to the shield. I also feel that the 8 round magazine will help me shoot a lot better since I have somewhere to rest my pinky. I am assuming it feels like I have more control? maybe? I am wondering if the extended mags for the XDs will give me more control and improve my groups. A lot of Questions still remain unanswered.

If I find that the extended magazine helps me, I may try the pierce extensions for the smaller magazines for both guns.

My vote for which gun is both! Maybe try different calibers.

I see a PPS .40 in my future so I will have similar guns in all 3 calibers. Some people want everything in the same caliber. Me, I don't mind the variety.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. I have an XDm 45 3.8c and wanted something even smaller in 9mm. Now, I love that XDm and really wanted to go with the XDs, but I found a deal on the Shield for $165 less than what the XDs was selling for. That was the final deciding factor for me. Now, if I can just get to the range to shoot it, I will know if I made the right decision.

I work at a LGS and am fortunate to handle & see most every brand and model, as well as problems & returns. I'm not aware of any issues with either the XDs or shield besides the recalls.
I've shot both and prefer the shield, although they are very different feeling guns. Try as I may, I just don't like any of the XD triggers.
The shield's trigger isn't exactly great either, but the shield just shoots "better" for me. It has less recoil than all of the similar sub compact 9mm pistolas out there, the grip & it's texture feel better than all the others (except the pm9), & I find the sights on the shield are easier to see than those on the XDs. The fact it's a S&W is a bonus!

The Mystro

I own a Shield 9mm amd pocket in slacks daily for 10 hours.

I have shot a Sig 938

Small and well made but no way am I pocket packing a cocked and locked weapon.

I also like that I can grip my Shield with the flush magazine with all 3 fingers.

Russ

that Shield is haft cocked too.

I was just at the LGS last night. They had 3 used XDs 45's for sale. Brand new with the upgrade, but pre owned. I guess 3 people decided they didn't like them. GARY

I have an XDS45 that I love. That said I'll probably never own the XDS9. I see no reason to have a heavier 9mm than the 45. I guess it might be nice to have have a shared system in terms of holsters. I have been considering the Shield, but mainly just as something different. I have a Kahr CM9 that I consider my single stack 9 at the moment.

I thought this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZndQDlt2HDM was a pretty good video comparison of the two guns.

To me the Shield is more comfortable by a small margin.
