Which is better? AK47 or the M-16

I noticed a subtle change of AKs ... the full auto test features a rifle with what appears to be a metal underfolder stock.

Always enjoy Ermey.

Caj,

Good to see you survived the New Year. After yesterdays thread about Pyrodex and fireworks it looks like you still have all of your fingers.

Happy New Year to you and yours and lets be back here on 1/1/2015

For sheer reliability , knockdown power, ease of getting ammo around the world, parts availability worldwide I'd say the AK-47 wins. For accuracy I'd give that to the M-16. Over all I'd say for CLOSE QUARTER COMBAT, the AK is the winner, but for the versatility of going out a few hundred yards I think the M-16 has the edge.

My take:

Full auto control and accuracy - M16
Reliability - AK
Maintenance - AK
Semiauto accuracy to 250 yards - M16
Intimidation factor - AK
Accessories (optical sights, lights, lasers, what have you) - M16
Stopping power - AK
Availability of components - M16

Draw. I'd feel well-armed with either one. To those who would insist that neither you nor I may have one - go pound sand.

My brand new Russian Izmash Saiga "AK in a spotter version" hands down for long distance accuracy too in 223 or 308win. It pops out the 223 & 308 rounds like popcorn. Forget the 7,62x39 Russian round. It never jams.

I'd like to know the honest numbers of our servicemen who died because there m16's ftf or jammed, still jamming to this day. I'll never own a slamma-jamma matic for sure I want the best quality the Russians have to offer.

To judge what's better Mr Stoner gave us the worst weapon in American history. Look at its track record for jamming and killing Americans to this day. Yuk your kidding me right. I'm just saying to look at the facts. We need to put the boots on the ground with better quality, dependability weapons.

Now 9mm luger or 45acp come on the 45acp drops them on the spot dead as the 9mm takes a few rounds to do so. These bad guys just don't give up.

Tell me Bill. Were you in the Army or Marine Corps? How many combat tours did you do? What hands-on experience do you base your opinions on? I'll bet I know, but surprise me.

Yea ok. First time I've ever seen a AK do minute of Wall at 30ft. Not biased or anything

I just got done firing an example of both an m4 and an AKM. From a bench, I can do a bit better with the m4. From any other field position, I can do much better with the AK.

Were my life depending on it, give me the AK.
