Which M&P Shield mag do you prefer?

I prefer the extended mag in my 40. I have larger hands and find it more comfortable, yet still plenty concealable. BTW no mag drops! The Shield 40 is an amazing weapon!

Great question. Before I bought a Shield and just handled one in a GS and was a new owner, I preferred the extended mag because I could get a full grip.
Now that I've owned one a while and have put quite a few rounds through it, I prefer the flush mag which is good because it does make it even smaller for cc.

I just picked up an extra 8 rounder from a nearby gun store that had about 5 8 rounders for 9mm. He had one for the 40 but no 7 rounders.
I carry with either one in my gun and i am not a big guy, just the perfect carry 9mm for in my opinion.
Anyone add a houge grip yet?

Just like few others, I prefer the extended, gives me better grip.

I have & I like how it feels. It's the Jr. series. Here's a couple of pics.

I use the 7rd. mag for carry in the Shield and the supplied 8rd in a Desantis mag packer as an extra in my front pocket. I bought a few extra mags and they were all 7 rounders since I have no problem curling my pinky underneath like I have on so many subcompact guns before.

I really don't like extended mags or pinky extensions on my carry guns. If I wanted a longer grip, I would of bought something else. I wear XL gloves but it's quite easy to properly grip with 2 fingers.

I thought I'd prefer the 8 round mag for the grip, but they are such a pain to insert I find the 7 round mag to be more efficient. I sure don't want to be fighting to insert a mag when I need it to go in under pressure of a gunfight.

I did find that talon grips sell the floor plate strips that will hold the 8 round inserts in place and can be taken off an replaced pretty easily

It's a toss-up for me in light of what has been said through this post. You'll have to test drive to get your own feel. But I think a set of Talon grips will work nice, too. I've been thinking about making that purchase for a couple weeks now for my Shield 9mm.

I appreciate everyone's input here. I've got medium sized hands so I get some pinky on the grip even with the flush mag. The Shield is still shorter in height to the PPS this way AND it holds one more round. The design of the Shield is incredible. Made with the human hand in mind and not too thin feeling.
I'll say it again, this is THE single stack 9mm I've been waiting for. Thought it was the PPS but with a sore hand after 100 rounds, hey what fun is that?

Personally, I think the 8 round mag is a mismatch for the gun. It makes the gun taller than a MPc which will give you 12 vs 8 rounds. The 7 helps keep it ultra compact which is the Shield's reason for existence. I'm going to see if I can trade my 8rd for a 7 in the classifieds.
