Which One Would You Buy?

The pre-28 is the only one of the three that is a target gun and I'm a target shoots so it would be the obvious choice for me.

However, if you must supply your own concealment .38 for a job or do not give a hoot about precision target shooting then do not let the big revolver get in your way. The choice between the Model 36 and Model 10 is whether you prioritize concealment or ease of hitting. Also the Model 36 is not factory approved for .38 Special +P. The Model 10 would be expected to last longer firing thousands of +P. Its recoil would also be more comfortable.

The 28s are just too heavy for me -- and 6" to boot. No I'd pass. I would get the snubbie Model if only because I see them so rarely.

The pre-M28 is the best value.

I DO like nickle revolvers , but comes down to your preference in snubs. If primary purpose is carry in pocket, or on ankle, then that's J frame niche. K frame snubs give great balance and control, practical accuraccy overlapping 4in guns, and surprisingly concealable with stock or boot grips ( prerequisite of proper belt).

Yes, I am a fan of 2in K frames.

Honestly I wasn't thinking about concealment, I just like them all and enjoy collecting S&W revolvers.

Took my model 65-2 to the range today. Reminded me again how much I love shooting .357 magnum. One of my other favorite guns is my only N frame, a Brazilian model 1917. What would be those two guns combined? The Highway Patrolman, I guess my guns answered my question.
Thank you so much for the help everyone!

Of course you know...we will need pictures when all is said and done.

As to first question, the Model 10.

Second question, I just personally find the Model 28/27 to be clunkers.

If it were me....

N frame pre Mod 28
K frame M10
J frame M36

Why?

The J frame is nickle....not my style.
The K frame M10....back in the day they were all over the place. I'd probably run into another someday.
The N frame pre Mod 28....now that interests me.

Aloha, Mark
