I just came into a 6 1/2" 25-2 and it groups my cast bullets in a really tight group....about 12" high with the rear sight bottomed out on the frame. It is a .146"rear and I'm shooting loads in the 800 ft second range so it is in the 45 acp range of bullet speed. My question is, will a .126" rear blade get the point of impact down to the top of a 6:00 hold at the 25 yd line? I can pump up the load a bit but that is not what a N frame acp gun is about and I don't think I could get a 12" change of impact safely anyway.. I have a 25-5 if I need some go faster stuff! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

A difference of .02 over 8" equates to .06 in 2' and as 25 yards is 75'. 75'/2'=37.5 and 37.5x.06=2.25". A .106 blade is available and that should take you down about 5"

Try a tighter grip, a big part of it is how much the gun rises during recoil

PS. Most revolvers tend to shoot low for me. But, I have huge hands and wrists. I also have a home made Ransom rest. I can cause a raise or lowering of a bullets impact by either loosing or tightening the clutch mechanism that controls the rotation of the guns recoil

I have a pretty tight grip on the stocks. Not overly tight but it is the same as my other N framed guns. A home made Ransom rest?? Would you like to post a pic of that little project? My interest level just went to high!

Basically just a copy of a ransom rest. The hard part to figure our was a clutch disk. Ended up using disk from a John Deere fan clutch. It uses regular Ransom rest inserts. You can tighten the clutch using a 3/4" wrench on the 1/2" bolt. Thumb screws to adjust elevation and windage as the circular plate it is mounted on pivots. You can lock that down also. I use ratchet straps to firmly secure it to the cement bench tops at range. I have since painted it up blue.

What bullet weight are you loading? Running relatively heavy SWCs could be raising your POI that high. Bullet weight impacts POI much more than velocity in revolvers.

I have to keep two sets of ammo in .38 Special, 125-130 grains and 148-158 grains. Most of my fixed-sight guns are regulated for 158s, but my 642 and 4" 10-5 need 125-130 grain ammo to hit to POA. My 22-4 hits to POA with 230-grain factory ammo and my 225-grain handloads; I've never tried it with other bullet weights.

I am shooting a 250 gr cast. I know that a heavy bullet will have more barrel time(slower load) but mine are in the same range as factory hardball. Not exactly but pretty close. I wish I had pics of the target but like I said, the poi is at least 12" above a 6:00 hold at 25 yds. I think I will shoot it again with some 225's after the holidays but I am still betting it will take a lower rear blade. I might be wrong but we'll see.
