Which three guns?

Winslow arms 7mm rem mag
Browning 12ga BPS
S&w model 41

Was going to pick a 10-22, but I like to take a .22 pistol when hunting.

Was deer hunting once sitting on a log spanning a dry creek. The other end of the log appeared a chattering tree rat….seriously. Next time.

I don’t owns rifle suitable for Alaskan game, therefore, I will have to borrow my friend’s Ruger All Weather 338 Win mag.
Then my Marlin 39A.
That would be it.
Ammo would be two bricks of 22 ammo. One of solids and the other HP’s
338 ammo would be 80 rounds of quality 250 grain game loads.

I'd take
Marlin 336-35 Remington
Remington 12ga. 870
Ruger Mkll Government Target 22 pistol
Number 4 shot and a few slugs
A couple of boxes of 200gr. 35 Remington
Loose 22 rounds dumped into the ammo can
Matches and fire starter and an axe.
This would be exciting and great way to spend 6 months.

Sounds lovely and tranquil. :) We'll have to go out with you next time and see that gorgeous coast line from a boat.
The only time we managed to get on the river was whitewater rafting it from The Forks.

We were contracted there in 1988, working 6 days a week at the yard, on the Arleigh Burke. Rented 254 Centre St. and walked to work.

If you get back up during my charter season, call me. I’m sure we can work a deal.

Agree. Problem would be talking my lady into it.

Savage 24 for the game (22LR/20ga).

681 to hang at my side.

Riot gun with slugs for by the front door.

Choosing a rifle would be the hard part for me. I could take a pre 64 M70 375 or a Ruger #1 in 375 or 405 Winchester, 450-400, 35 Whelan or a synthetic stocked Ruger 338 which has been there and done that. The shotgun a Parker 12 (I just sold the Fox) and for a handgun a K22.

Pre 64' Mod. 70, originally chambered in 300 H&H, now in .300 Weatherby.
Beretta Extrema 12 gauge.
Mod. 629-5, 4" and pack the rounds loose in a G.I. can to squeeze in as many as possible. 75, 300 Weatherby, 100, .44 magnum and the balance in 12 gauge, 3" steel #4's, 2 3/4" #6 and #8 for the balance and 5 slugs.

We will, of course, need an after action report! Good luck and take lots of photos.

A .308 Ruger M77 stainless compact with 2x7 leupold compact, Galco braided strap, and Harris bipod.
A Ruger super single-six in 9.5” bbl with both cylinders….the magnum makes good velocities with the long bbl.
A Glock 20 SF.
Probabably 80 loosed rounds .308 168 gr sp’s.
50-100 loose rounds buffaloes bore 10 mm hard cast heavies.
300 .22long rifle hp’s. All rounds loose in GI can so they will fit.
200 .22 mags in hp as well. The long bbl’d single-six is incredibly accurate on small game at 100 yards from my experience and the magnum rounds kill big for a rimfire in my experience.
The .308 is my primary, compact, portable, fast and can do all tasks.
The Glock is powerful and can carry 16 hard hitters in rapid succession. Don’t need my .44 mtn gun or .41 Ruger Kodiak with the bolt gun. The Glock is a fantastic sidearm used well for targets of opportunity on game or foe in a pinch.

If the rules are what I have currently in my accumulation?

Probably a Winchester 88 in .308, a Browning A-5 in 12 gauge and Ruger Single Six with a convertible cylinder for .22 and .22 magnum.

If I’m by myself, I’d be inclined to leave the really big animals alone and concentrate on deer-size or smaller game. I’d want sturdy, reliable guns, since repair in the field would be problematic. And then there is the complicating factor that I really like bird shooting.

Given all that, I’d probably take…
Model 70 .30/06 with 2.5-8x scope
Browning A5 12 gauge (new model)
Remington 581 .22 LR with scope

Forty rounds of .30/06 should last pretty good (about 1.5 per week), 500 .22s (about 3 per day), and as many shotgun shells as possible with appropriate shot-size for whatever birds are in the area.

I’d like to have a handgun along but wouldn’t give up any of the above for it. Hopefully the cabin will be equipped with a good dog. :)

My Mauser 35 Whelen with a compact 1.5x5 Burris and 60 loose round of 225gr Nosler partion .
A Ithaca NM double 20ga 5 slugs, 30 #5’s.
A 9422m topping the can off with loose 22mag’s.
My 696 and and 2 speed strips won’t count since I’ll be wearing those concealed.

I think I could get by without a shotgun. Ammo will take up a lot space.

22 rimfire probably a CZ 45x something or other with scope.
308 Tikka 3x lite with scope.
44 mag revolver, probably a Ruger Super Blackhawk.
