Which way to push rear Shield sight

I always thought you were supposed to push the rear sight towards the left (as seen from the rear when looking over the sights) but I just watched an Apex video where they said to drive it to the right. Which is correct.

If you are removing the sight, move it to the right, toward the ejection port. This applies to all S&W autos.

Yea, cause the dovetail is also tapered down from right to left

This is why the are sooooo dang hard to move anyways.

Also why the instruction book says dont move the rear site (along with the springy stuff under it)

Some, but not all are tapered. Sometimes it's just the displaced metal in the dovetail from having the oversized sight rammed in with a 20 ton press. Most US DESIGNED guns install the sights from right to left as you look down the barrel. Colt is a notable exception. Most European designed guns are opposite. Doesn't matter where they were made, where were they designed? If you're unsure, contact the manufacturer and ask. In any event, it's best to remove in the opposite direction from which they were installed. The few Glocks I've worked on seemed to have a tight spot in the middle. They may not care about direction.

Pushing toward the right the rear sight pushed right out. Now I've got a set of TFX sights on it to sight in next weekend.

My 45 Shield pushed 'right' with no issues using my JMT sight pusher and S&W pins.

Yes, from left to right looking at the back of the gun. Not all guns are created equal though. Glock rear sights can be removed and installed either way as one example.
