I don't really know what this is so I'm asking the community.

I have some pistols I stored a year or so ago that I had oiled, then wrapped in VCI paper, then sealed them in aluminum foil sealed storage bags.
Taking them out recently, I notice a white powdery residue on the outside of the VCI paper and also on the pistols themselves.
I see no evidence of corrosion on the pistols anywhere, but I'm wondering what going on that this white powder would form inside a sealed bag.
I "think" it's from the VCI paper, but I just don't know what's going on.

Anyone?

Hmmm, I've used lots of VCI paper over the years but have never encountered that scenario. The only thing that comes to mind is either white mold or a chemical separating out of the VCI paper. I'd put a call into the manufacturer of the VCI - or at least to the place you got it from. Maybe defective???
