Yes I know it has the lock; please don't make this a lock rant. I just want to know from anyone who has one what you think about it as a shooter. Also, what are they actually selling for - not the MSRP.

Thanks,
Kapp

I was lucky, got the PC model W/O the lock. Love it. So much so that I got a couple more and had a 4" barrel put on one from the Clint Smith model-will never sell any of them. I know the Classics are not PC models but I have shot them and they are very very nice guns.

Kapp,
FYI - if you really want this configuration and are not interested in the lock, you can find (may take some patience and digging) one of the Heritage M1917 models made around 2000-2001 for Lew Horton. These do not have the lock, but do have a RB gripframe. These were made in Bright blue, matte (military) blue and Case Hardened finishes.

I have a PC 25-12 Heritage 1917, which I think is one of the best pointing revolvers I've ever held. I like it enough that I have a 22-4 for concealed carry. My 22-4 is the only S&W I own with the lock on it, but I have not had any problems with it and am comfortable carrying it for self defense. I only wish my Heritage 1917 had half as nice of an action as the standard 22-4!
