At home or out of home. What's the story? Obviously you don't have to say if you don't want to, just interested in hearing stories. Never know what you can learn from them.

Me personally I have never had to use mine for defense purposes. Hope I never have to.

This is generally considered an impolite question.
It's only impolite if asked directly to someone's face, putting them on the spot.

It's an understandable question and fine to ask on an anonymous forum where people can freely choose to reply or not as they wish.

We have members who will answer this question, and others who won't; it's come up before and will again -- and it's precisely the right place to ask.

It's really not meant to offend anyone. Hence why I said participation is voluntary. Valuable knowledge can be gained through others experiances.

What, exactly, do you mean by "use." I don't mean this as a hostile or aggressive question, but it is a bit vague. To me, as a former LEO, it could mean simply drawing my weapon to deter a bg from thinking he could take me (I'm not a big guy and was a detective mostly wearing casual street clothing), to actually firing my weapon in self defense or in the defense of others.

I haven't and hopefully never will. I have used my carry gun to shoot some four legged predators around the "farm" though.

This is generally considered a very inappropriate question. Most folks flat out won't answer. Some that do will get all offended that it was even asked

I mean like pull, fire. Any situation where it was used for its purposes as a self defense tool. Rather against dog human spider or crocodile.

the Grey man answers

The Grey man never speaks of using his firearm. When the Grey man walks down the street the bgs scatter before him like grasshoppers in a freshly mowed field at sundown.

Hmmmmm...

I find this comment interesting...and a bit unusual. In my experiences, more than 'thinking he could take me' was required before use of my gun. In fact, there had to have been far more than mere 'thinking' involved...again, in my personal experiences.

Be safe.

This is odd. I noticed another new member today, I think, asking what guns everyone all had.

Yeah, here it is. http://smith-wessonforum.com/concealed-carry-self-defense/416826-how-much-ammo.html
To the originator of this thread: Pay special attention to post number 5.

I had it wrong about asking about GUNS, but just thought it was weird this morning to see a new member asking people how much ammo they have.

Don't be too harsh on him. I think he's learned.

If you spend enough time here, you will get the answer to your question eventually. People tell stories all the time. They just become more self-conscious when asked directly.

This sounds more like a description of Lone Wolf McQuade.

The Grey Man is stealth incarnate. When the Grey Man walks down the street, the bad guys don't even realize he's there. It's like he has a super intensified sombody-elses-problem field. (If you understand that reference without looking it up, you need to get out more. ;) )

I'll answer, as it was a long time ago, and no one got hurt. I was robbed and threatened with bodily harm. I drew and pointed, and that stopped the crime. No shots were fired. He was even kind enough to hand me my wallet back.

I will say- when this was happening, I was very aware of how small my pistol seemed compared to the size of my foe. It stuck with me.

When I posted this I knew that not everyone would want to answer. If you don't want to you dont have to. But there really isn't a reason to get so upset. You don't want to answer it, hit the back button on your browser and move on.

I'm glad that you didn't have to fire. Seems like a lot of the stories I hear of people using their firearm for self defense doesn't involve them having to pull the trigger. Glad you made it out of there alright.
