Who likes JM grips?

james56, love the polish on yours. Gives it a whole new look. Did the factory do that? BTW, I'm a fan of the JM grips. Finger groove options never seems to fit me just right.

Interesting to read all these comments. What is so readily apparent is the grips for a handgun are much like shoes.....if they don't fit properly they irritate on a grand scale.

JM's really are specialty grips that take some getting used to, especially if you are used to typical wooden grips.

I like to try them all... I have or have had a type of just about every grip mentioned here and have found good points and bad with all of them...

Again, they are like shoes... They've gotta fit, you've gotta like the look, and they have to help your performance on the range or in the field or even the most expensive and stylish are useless to you.

I don't "put down" any of them because they just may be the perfect solution for another person...

Yes the S&W Combats are in the same category as JM's and I guess as with all grips, they fit your hand or dont. Ive tried them all and S&W Combats fit me great and I shoot best with them. I refinished them also.

As for the polishing, I have 6 SS S&W's and just cant stand S&W SS finish. The tool marking is just awful (to me).. I use 5 different polishing compounds to get the mirror like finish. This process takes a total of 15 to 16 hours to do correctly. As with working with wood you have to work with the grain and not against it.... You must take your time not to round the edges and make sure you dont dish out the screw holes. As for lettering, trade mark and S&W emblem, I do hand polishing and a final run with the wheel polisher. Some say you cant tell if its nickel or SS when their put together. This process is the way to go some say mothers polish is... Mothers polish doesn't come close. You be the judge. The JM was the hardest to do because of the bead like finish. I believe it took me like 20 or so Hours.

Thanks for the kind remarks and hope this helps
James
