Who likes the model 12?

I just picked up a 12-2 round butt with a 4" barrel in great shape a couple of weeks ago. I took it to the range last weekend and it is a very nice shooter.

I like the way it shoots and how light it is for a K frame. A wonderful pistol.

Just picked up a 12-3 from a forum member. 2 inch...nickle. I haven't shot it yet but with a T grip or a set of houges it just melts in your hands. I was surprised by how light it is for a k frame.

What's not to love about a model 12!?

Back before he started keeping all the nice S&Ws for himself, LGS owner called me when this one came in.
Its become one of my all time favorite carry guns.
I much prefer it to the Airweight J Frames.

Full size gun, fits the hand well with a Tyler, functions well with Fed +P 158gr HP Nyclad. I like the sights on my 2" 15 a little better, but the 12 does shoot to POA. Doesn't weigh anything.

All the above Plus a much nicer double action trigger pull than any J frame I have ever owned. You can work a LOT of magic and get the J close to a standard K or work the same magic and get a silky smooth 6 shot 38 Special. My 12-2 keeps me company very often. If only I could figure a way to get some bigger pockets it would replace my 642 completely.

On a side note I have been very surprised by the high degree of accuracy that the 2 inch barrel Smiths possess. Both my 12-2 and my 15-3 2 inch guns will equal or better their longer barreled siblings even out to 25 yards.

Saw this topic elseware, but since I really like
the 12-2, 2" RB, I'd like to comment again. Weight
seems the same as a Mod. 36, bigger stocks soak up the recoil,
and for my hands, I really feel in control, and w/o T-grips.
Wonderful combination of size, weight, and control.
My thanks to the Forum members that turned me on to
this great gun.

I don't own a 12 and I never ran onto one for sale. If I did it would be hard to resist buying it if I had the funds with me. I would like the weight more than anything else. I mostly shoot wadcutters.

I was lucky enough a few months back to get an early all alloy 5 screw pre 12 with gold box, unfired. I like it, but will never shoot it, too valuable to risk bulging the cylinder. My only complaint is that the finish is paper thin, seems to want to flake too easily.

Count me in. I have a 2" round butt shooter that is light, reliable and accurate. A terrific revolver.

To me, the Model 12 with 4 inch round butt would be an ideal carry gun. I have no idea why it is not still in the line. With a 2 inch round butt for a back up, it gives 12 rounds on tap and the two share the same speedloader. Seems to me like a good pair to reintroduce or for a limited run.

Kinda like this one. Oh yea.
