I'd just like to know I might be interested in owning one someday. Is it built for a life time of shooting or is it the model that has the frame cracking problem? I'd love some feedback and pics if possible.
Thanks.

I like mine just fine.
Great for pocket carry.
Not my favorite range toy, however.
Most of my J-frame shooting is with my Model 60.
Set them up as close as possible in feel (hammer excepted)

I love mine! Although not a range gun it's always in my pocket so I always shoot a few cylinders when at the range. It is actually fun to shoot and surprisingly accurate. I haven't heard of any cracking problems, not that it matters with a lifetime warranty.
Get one without the lock. ;)

Oh yes, the photo.

The factory grips work for me.

Mine dosen't look anywhere near as good as the examples so far. That's because it's been carried for a lot of years, sometimes as a back up, sometimes on it's own. Either way, my 442 is always close!

No frame cracking just some rust issues around the trim.

I've had this 642CT for about three months and it has been a good gun. The below picture shows the accuracy potential of these little guns.

Some of the aluminum framed J models have had frame cracking under the back of the barrel as viewed with the cylinder open. Keep an eye there for any problems.

Bought a 442 for the dark finish on the sights (have had poor experience trying to shoot all stainless sight guns in bright light) but now wish I'd gone for the 642. I carry IWB and moisture builds up between the frame and crane every day - if I don't wipe it down with a silicone cloth or oily rag at the end of each day it will start to rust fairly quickly. Other than that I love the (lack of) weight, which makes for perfectly easy pocket carry when I don't want to strap on a holster.

As others have said, they're not the most fun at the range, but I have other, larger guns for that purpose.

The 442 is my EDC as is the 642 for my wife but I wouldn't call these stubbies our favorite guns when it comes to shooting a lot. That title goes to the 1911 even though the M22A actually gets the most use at the range because of ammo costs.

I've put over 1500 rds. through mine, mostly handloads with no issues. The more I shoot it the more I like it. I either carry it in a Simply Rugged sourdough pancake holster or a pocket holster.

I love my 642-1 and 37-2 DAO with factory bobbed hammer. Lately it's carry something else for a couple days... then back to the J frame. It seems that all roads lead to the snubby J. At least in my world.

My favorite carry piece, the little 442 just disappears
I use one as a CCW when dressed for warm weather or when deep conceal is called for. Colder weather i grab a .357 k-frame

I love my 642.It's the one gun I would never trade or sell because I know I would just buy another one.If you are dedicated to CCW everywhere that's legal it should be a staple in your collection. No matter where I'm going, how I'm dressed,or what I'm doing there's always room to conceal my trusted snubby.

I like mine but the factory grips are garbage. You can't even use a speedloader. With a Hogue monogrip the 442 is actually gun to shoot because the felt recoil is greatly reduce. I have an oversized rosewood grip on the way from Altamont. Its really a nice gun and you can feels the quality.

There, you went and did it..... I miss my Cutlasses. You're killin' me.
A '77 and a '98, da**it........
True cruisers...
4-4-2's are da bomb.........;)

I have Three 442s. One is the older small frame and Two are newer, One with lock One without. I like the way they look, shoot, and carry.
