Who THINKS OF THINGS like this?

Thanks for the link to Marlin Dark, it's been a long time since I looked at the Marlin site. I have two old Marlins in 35 Rem. If they made a Marlin Dark 336 in 35 Rem, I would buy one. Large loop, 16" barrel, ghost ring sighting, mounted rail.

Guessing it would find a home in places like NJ,Calf., Mass., Chicago ..... and the land of the Walking Dead............................

Just saw another thread on a Henry "Lone Ranger"? 5 shot lever action in .223

Yeah, being a fan of Mossberg, I've seen that thing before and I honestly have no idea what they were thinking.

I mean, I get that they were trying to make a Lever Action look "tacticool" that much is obvious, what I don't understand is how the concept ever went into production when it's so obviously a bad idea.
Honestly, the sort of guys who buy guns solely based upon their "tacticool" appearance, aren't so stupid that they'll just buy anything that has been painted black, fitted faux-tactical furniture, and had pointless accessory rails slapped on for good measure. They'll still know it's "just a cowboy gun" at a glance and won't buy it, nor will the folks who actually like lever action rifles because it looks stupid.

As near as I can figure, Mossberg was trying to recreate the success they'd had with the ATI Tactical Mossberg 500 Scorpion, but the difference is that the Scorpion actually looks cool, whereas this just looks dumb.

If they wanted to make their lever action rifle look more modern and cool, then they should have looked towards the Marlin 1895SBL for inspiration, as a more reasonably priced, 100% reliable version of that firearm would easily sell.

Heck, even the 1895 Dark Series looks better than this...

I had a problem with varmints in my vegetable garden in the middle of the night and it continues in my orchard. With some kind of light attached the thing would be useful and a silencer would avoid waking the neighbors. That flash hider is really just a thread protector. I would never want to be seen with the thing so the collapsible stock would make it easier hide it in the closet in the daytime. The thing not being simi-auto avoids having to take a training class and jumping through other hoops buying simi-auto .22 LR rifles in Washington. If BATFE would waive the $200 tax on the silencer and I could find the rifle used for $90 I'd be a buyer.

A single shot that is accurate with CCI CB Longs would work just as well.

Came across this gem on a local classified site.
To me this is a misfire of a product design for the tactical market.
I assumed at first look that this was a private party conversion. Upon reading the text, it turns out that this is a catalogued product for Mossberg.
Just wondering if anyone else finds this as ridiculous as I do, or am I just out in left field here.

You know you've always wanted one of these, admit it. :D
