For backup, I would choose the Supremes of course.

Were you at Ed Cantrell's trial in Pinedale, Wyoming? Rosa, the UCO, was a ***.
I was there also.............Bill Jordan was fast but I really believe Ed was a little faster.
Ed taught me how to shoot a handgun before he moved to Wyoming.

I did not read all, but going into the thread Absalom's thoughts were like mine. Bill Jordan and the Border patrol LE's operated in a different environment. Read Col Askins non-repentant Sinner. Ambushes may have been the favorite mode and they worked when they might shoot first without issues.
I have not read the book but Cirillo's partner is said to have been the best back up and he was more wicked in a shootout than Cirrillo and possibly had a higher body count. I'd give him some thought after I bought him lunch, showed him pics of my grandkids and made sure his favorite drink was ordered. I think his name was Bill Allard. Cirillo thought highly of him.

I'd take Jimmy Cirillo's SOU partner,Bill Allard
Naturally JC would be 2nd.
I had no personality conflict with either man and could stay comfortable in the confined spaces of stake out locations for long periods of time.
I enjoyed being backup to both.
Billy didn't get the book deals that JC enjoyed but he was IMO a much better shot and cold as steel.He was the best NYPD shooter I had witnessed,worked with and shot matches with and against.

I am trying to find a new book on Bill. I think the man with the best PR gets the early worm. Not knocking Jim, he was very good and trained many folks. I just think Bill too was very good but did not get the accolades.
Bill was national pistol champ at Camp Perry using the 45/22. He also had access to lots of National Guard ammo to prep for their shoots.
Jim Cirillo or Bob Munden.......Sadly both have gone to that big shooting range in the sky.

I drove with Bill Allard to Camp Perry and back home to NYC a few times.We always went home with lots of White box 45 ACP Match Hard Ball from the military.I still have a box or 2 of 1960 RA MATCH.
On thing you didn't want to do is sleep in the same 8 man hut at Perry with Bill.The man could snore really really loud.One time we carried his bunk with him in it outside so we could all get some sleep.
Bill should be around 80 now?
