Who's Better Armed. Me Or My Son?

I'd grab the wheel gun!! Are either of you adopting?? I'd like to be in line for those........:)...Kidding of course, and god-speed for your sons safe return......

I would take the magnum wheel gun. Not up for discussion since common sense says the revolver is better.

Now if you want real arms, get a 1911 in .45acp. But I do love my .357 mag wheel guns. They are dependable and they take care of business.

The 3" Model 13, period. Because it is the best handling gun I can think of for that situation. If it handles and shoots good, I should hit my mark.

Inside an enclosed area, at night, facing possible multiple armed assailants..... I'll take the higher cap, less flash, less mind numbing sound pressure (half that of a 357mag) 3913. Deaf, blind, and the first to run out of ammo isn't the ideal fighting posture, IMHO. YMMV.

I love my 3913. It has never jammed up or given me trouble even with some of my early not so good reloads. The safety on it would be pretty difficult to accidentally engaged but I guess it could happen. I leave it hammer down with one in the tube and the mag full with a back up mag at the ready. While I love a good revolver I would never feel bad about grabbing my 3913 with extra mag over a revolver and speed loader. And with the excellent sights on the 3913 I would never resort to any sort of spray and pray nonsense. Any gun can be wildly fired in spray and pray mode. That is up to the shooter to remain calm and do the right thing. If anything I would like to send mine in for some refinishing. She needs some TLC treatment and I am slacking.

The 3913, because of the sights. I do not like a fixed sight revolver, most of them don't shoot to POA for me, & I don't like the sight picture (can't see the sights as well) as the semi-auto. If the semi-auto has night sights so much the better.

The wheel gun has 6 chambers. If a round fails to go bang, it will foul the chamber. Another pull of the trigger instantly presents an unfouled chamber and a fresh round of ammo.

The bottom feeder only has one chamber. A round that fails to go bang takes the gun out of action. Whether you have the time and extra hand to clear the fouled chamber depends on the situation and luck.

I'd say you're better armed with the model 13.
I have one with 4" barrel.
Someday I'll have a 3". ( My,If I could only own one gun, gun!)

Not that I'd like to take one from the 9, but it would be a better option than one from the .357.

Figure that aimed fire beats the pants off supressive fire, so all things being equal you should only need 1 or 2 to get the job done.

Give me the wheel gun.

Now, if your son had a 1911, we'd have a tougher decision.

Wisdom of Age

With 9mm the American Rifleman armed citizen article will state " wounded suspect will be arrested after leaving the hospital". My 640 with Hornandy 180 grain HP sitting on top of 8.0 grains Unique will tell a shorter story. " Suspect dead at scene police looking for accomplices with soiled undergarments".

I would say you are better armed since you have 2 guns and he has none. As to which gun in a home invader situation, I'm in the "whichever gun is closest" crowd.

I'd make it a point to not piss off either of you. I'd say it's a pretty even match. What the wheel gun has in power the semi makes up in capacity.
