Are the older ones made better? I have seen used ones on the internet selling for over $1200. Locally they are selling new for $1000.

Are the new ones not made as well? Not as accurate? Are the older ones just better?

Your thoughts?

Maybe you're seeing older M41s, with the cocking indicator? In my area new and old M41s are the same price at around $850-900. I ended up buying a new 7" a few months ago, and while the finish isn't as nice as the older models I've seen, function and accuracy are really good. I actually mounted a red dot sight for Bullseye last night and test fired 30 rounds from a sandbag at 20 yards just to sight in. All rounds held the 10 ring, with most in the bullseye of the standard 25 yard pistol target.

One-handed shooting results at 25 yards after two cups of coffee were not as impressive.

I've not been all that happy with the guns coming out of Springfield lately, but the Houlton, ME guns seem really squared away.

M41's have been around for over 50 years now and the earlier models are sought by collectors. There have been numerous changes throughout production of this pistol. Do old ones shoot better than newer ones??? Buy a couple and let us know...
