why do i buy such things

There was one in my mom's estate. With (ugh) pearl grips. They're supposed to be a decent copy of the Baby Browning, though the barrel turns in the opposite direction for take down. This is said to have gotten them around patent issues, but who knows? It came with its original box, though it's nothing to write home about condition-wise, and has a spare magazine. Because, you know, it's so suitable for prolonged gun fights.

Have no use for .25 ACP. The only gun in .25 ACP that would interest me would be a collectible Walther PPK, which is the 6.35mm. They're as rare as hen's teeth.

Not sure how it's going to handle when fired. Not worried about recoil. It's just that the fleshy part of my hand sticks up higher than the lower edges of the slide rails, so I might first dress them with a stone, lest I wind up with twin slices across my hand. Somehow I doubt that I'll be ruining any value by altering it.

Most of the ammo that came with it is FMJ. However, there are a couple of rounds of W-W with what appears to be a BB stuck into a hollow point. Will add those to my cartridge collection.

Your white grips look a lot better than these overly thick pearl grips, which are laminated onto a black base. They're so thick they double the thickness of the grip frame.

As for aggressive mice, the cat keeps bringing them into the house and turning them loose. But I doubt the wife would put up with holes in the floor. Assuming this might be capable of it. Naw, not worth chancing it.

Everybody should have a gun for those times when you can't carry a gun. ;)

I have two .25acps. A Colt 1908 Vest Pocket and a PSP-25 which is a licensed copy of the Browning Baby. Both are fine little pistols. Accurate and totally reliable. And yes, I have carried them. :D

I don't know why i bought it but it is so cute and useless. But the local G.S almost gave to me. Did have to make a set of grips for it

Now i have to find some aggressive mice.
I have one bought it new back in the early 70s great little gun and it carries my name Bauer.

I still need to get one of those Bauers, one of relatively few guns produced in Michigan.

From super-short barrels the .22LR performs no better than the .25ACP yet is less reliable due to being rimfire in a world where the ammo makers get a pass from the shooting populace who think the .22LR is supposed to be unreliable.

I feel that CCI Mini-Mags are about as sure a thing as you can get in moderately priced .22lr. If I carried a .22 mouse gun you can bet that's what would be in it.

I do love looking at these little vest/purse guns, though. Raven, Lorcin, etc. I don't care. There's a nostalgic factor they trigger when I see them. I remember when they were cheap, cheap, cheap to purchase.

I had one I bought new. I sold it due to the almost useless .25acp round it used. I would have kept it had it been a .22lr. Which is why I now have a TPH.

I have one that was re-branded as "fraser" toward the end of production.

I have a Kel-Tec P32 that fulfills that role for me. Don't underestimate the penetration that these little guns produce with the right ammunition. Sellior and Bellot 73 grain FMJ is the correct overall length to resist "rim-lock", will penetrate 10" of ballistic gel, and generates over 150# of KE. Though it is not nearly strong enough to work as a full-sized combat pistol might, it will do it's part if you adjust your tactics. Your shots will have to be taken at short distance and you must hit a smallish (4"x10") zone to assure incapacitation, but the pistol will do its part if you do yours...

I've rarely handled any gun that I didn't like at least a little. If the price is right, I'll buy virtually anything that goes (or used to go) bang.

I had a little Galesi .25 years ago that actually wasn't a bad shooter as long as you kept the distance within 20' or so (which I suspect is what the .25ACP is best for). I made the mistake of showing it to a friend who collects small "pocket" guns and he just had to have it.

Recently, I was given a Davis Derringer and an NAA mini revolver, both chambered in .22LR. I know they are junk to many people but like I said, they each have something that I like about them.

I've made all the jokes about .25 ACP--how it might give somebody a nasty bruise, all of them,

But the little round has rendered many people null and void, if not always immediately. Definite improvement over Nerf projectiles.

I've often thought I'd like to have a Browning or Bauer .25 just for the sheer unbridled hell of it. And never for primary carry. Just as well I can't afford to buy guns anymore.

I owned a Kel-Tec P32 briefly. Perfectly okay, just such a poor fit for my hand that I couldn't shoot it accurately at much more than spit-take range.

At one time a Raven 25 was one of the guns I lusted for. It had the one essential quality I HAD to have in a handgun.

It was cheap.

I never got one though. Until yesterday. I haven't picked it up yet, but did have them put it "on hold" for me. A Taurus T-25 in satin nickel, with rosewood grips. I don't know why I wanted it. Except it was "small and cute and cheap." And my wife liked it. I'll probably pick it up next week or so.

The Bauer/Fraser is stainless, a fine quality for a tiny .25. I gather that if the slide rails are kept well lubed, they work pretty well?

I doubt that Bauer had a patent issue with FN. The design is rather old.

One rub is that I don't feel comfortable carrying a striker - fired pistol with a loaded chamber. Actually, I'm not keen about carrying even a hammer-equipped .25 like the nice Beretta M-950 cocked and locked.

But the small .25 has its place.

When I carry my .25s or the 1903 .32 Colt I always carry them with the chamber empty. It takes 2 hands to clear a malfunction with an auto so I don't have a problem using 2 hands to get it started shooting and I won't shoot myself in the leg or somewhere more important. Larry
