I would not own a 6" 617........Too much of a clunker......I do own a 4" 617 that I like plus 34's/63's/17's/18's etc.
Hmmm.....how about a scandium N-Frame .22? Something in the 20-24 shot range?![]()

Why do most of us here own the firearms we have? We probably don't need any more than a shotgun, a handgun in 22lr, one in centerfire and a few rifles in centerfire and rimfire. What fun is that?I have a neat little 63-4 5" tackdriver/woods gun.
I have a cute little cowboy .22 for fun plinking.*
Not sure, though, what purpose the big, heavy, 6" 617 is serving, other than being part of the collection.
So - what do you use YOUR big, heavy, 6" 617 for?
*autos, too, but this is the revolver forum after all.![]()
Could you expand upon what you mean when you write "clunker"? I am in the process of acquiring a 6" and will likely seek a crossdraw holster, given that barrel length. But I was thinking target more than carry and hunting.
Too much of a "boat anchor" weight for caliber. Get a 6" mdl. 17 and you'll see what a really nice 6" .22 is.
I love my 617. Very accurate and love the heavy feel. What is their not to like about a heavy full sized revolver? Mine is a 617 no dash so I'm limited to 6. Would like to have a 10 shot but this will do for now.

I got one because it holds 10 rounds and I go thru them in a hurry!
