Why do people have to be shady....

The reaction of the seller was out of line, but I will say that sometimes the shipping isn't in the seller's hands. E.g. the last gun I sold I took it to my FFL on a Thursday or Friday, and he told me that his pickup wouldn't be until Monday, and he would call me with the tracking number. So I told the buyer that. Then Monday rolls around and I didn't get a call. So I call on Tuesday, get a tracking number and mail it to the buyer. Then I check on line and the package was sent Saturday (not Monday), and got there on Monday.

Sure, it got there earlier, but the buyer may have made plans based on what I told him, and I could only give him the info I got from the FFL. Anyway, just wanted to say that sometimes you give out bad info because you are given bad info.

I make a living dealing with and reading people and it has turned me into a cynic and pessimist - But I have a great BS detector.

I've found that, in today's society, people simply can't be trusted - especially in urban areas. They will push things as far as they can get away with it. It seems like there are more and more sociopaths.

Honor and chivalry are pretty much dead thanks to permissive philosophies, people simply not being held accountable,or even knowing/understanding what responsibility is.

But, generally speaking, older folks know and understand what honor is. People of my generation, (gen X) and younger, not so much.

I hate that I'm like this, but for me, it's the best way to keep from being taken advantage of.

Bid on an auction online for an item, auction ended on the 12th and I paid for it immediately. Was notified by eBay that the item was shipped on the 17th. Sent media mail, no tracking number included. Said it was projected to be delivered by the 25th. The 25th came and went, no package, still no tracking number. Sent a message to the seller, he responded that he would look for the number. Asked again for the number, no response. My package finally showed up today, in good shape. HOWEVER, it says it wasn't sent until the 25th.

This is just a lifestyle for many people. No vacation time at work, no money, no gas in the tank, no integrity.

I have no issue with working with someone, and others have worked with me in the past on things. Be straight with me. Send me a message and say that it may be awhile before you can get to the post office to ship it. I can understand. Life happens. But don't BS me about it....

OK...rant over. Sorry...
I bought a front differential for a pickup truck on ebay. The guy said he'd ship it in the morning. About a week later, I asked why I hadn't seen it. He gave some lame excuse about work or something. This went on for several weeks. I finally told him if it was not shipped immediately, I was filing a claim with ebay. Shortly, he responded with a tracking number, and it arrived two days later. It worked great. You just have to build a fire under some folks.

The internet being what it is--sellers who may not have experience in sales or customer service, just your average John or Sue--do not understand the concept sometimes. If you want to be successful long term in sales, you quickly realize things they don't teach you in college. Be prompt to customer requests. Always communicate. Be true to your word. If you don't know, say so. Just bring civility.

Had a boss once who expressed it to his subordinates this way:

"Say what you mean. Do what you say. First time, every time."

Pretty simple, really.

I have had a guy tell me that they were waiting for a USPS money order to clear. This doesn't make sense unless perhaps there is forged USPS money orders.

The gun eventually showed up, I was beginning to suspect some type of scam. I was actually surprised when the gun arrived.

USPS MOs can be canceled just like a check, and then bounce. And, as you wrote, they can also be forged, although that is not nearly as likely as one being cancelled. In the best of worlds, one would take the MO down to the PO and cash it right there, but my PO never has enough cash on hand to cash a large MO.
