Wildcat, what is it??

I bought a ;bunch of 30-30 brass and there were a few dozen cases formed from 30-30 cases but now for a 6.5 bullet. They have a very sharp shoulder and less taper than the standard 30-30. As mentioned they hold a 6.5 bullet. Does anyone know what this is called or anything about them. Looks like it would make a great round in a single shot rifle.

I suppose it would be really stupid to buy a rifle chambered for a wildcat based on having a number of cases already?

Sounds like it could be the 6.5 Bench Rest Magnum, rifles made by the E.A. Brown Company. Google up their site, you'll likely enjoy the reading. I have a Brown 97D in 6.5 BRM, and another in .300 BRM.

Stupid to buy a rifle? Not hardly...for whatever reason!

I've bought rifles for less solid reasons!

Buy a Brown 97D rifle in 6.5 BRM, and you have a short,light, trim rifle that -- even with a 24" barrel -- carries like a .30-30 carbine, shoots sub-MOA groups all day long, and has the power and trajectory of a 6.5 Swedish Mauser. Hard to ask for more in a deer rifle.
