Will S&W will ever make a .357 AirLite with a 4-inch barrel like the 329PD?

Got a couple of the AirLite snubs, but need more barrel and don't want a 44 Magnum.

It would be nice if S&W made a 6-shot AirLite .357 with a 4-inch barrel. Do you think anything is in the works?

Could they - YES! BUT, in this climate it's highly unlikely. There are way too many more profitable thigs for them to make right now and for the forseeable future.

Welcome! S & W made several similar guns - look up the 7-shot models 386 (2.5" barrel) and 520 of 2005 (4" barrel). Both are no longer in production.

Another possibility - you don't have to use full power .44 Magnums in a model 329PD. .44 Special will take care of most things. :)

Thanks!

That is too bad. I would have thought it would be popular. Getting old and hands are so-so, so 44 mag is too much.

Is there a reason that you want a 6 shot as opposed to 7 shot or 8 shot 357 Magnum AitLite revolvers that already exist?

Smith & Wesson did make the 4" 327PD which was exactly like the 4" 329PD except it was an eight shot 357 Magnum. This was introduced in 2008. I wish I had bought one back then. I only grabbed one of the Model 357PD revolvers

The also introduced the 5" Model 327 TRR8 and the 5" Model 327 M&P R8 back in 2006. Both are still current Performance Center offerings

I am EXTREMLY fond of my 327 TRR8 semi-Pinto

Mine is from 2007

The 327 TRR8 is a .357 I'd actually carry in the field and even for EDC. It's light enough at 35 ounces, and the 4" barrel is needed to get an ideal amount of power from the cartridge. Being able to carry EIGHT clipped into Moons would be bad news for bad guys for sure! I also prefer the new N-frame fit to hand and it seems the lock work is smoother than the L-frames I've handled or owned.

627 PD

I had one and stupidly traded it. It looked just like the 329PD. It was an 8 shot with a Hi Viz front sight. Since it traded it 15 years ago i have seen exactly 1 other one on Gunbroker. They wanted like $1500 for it and if i could have been assured it was new in the box i would have bought it.

327

Sorry, yes it was the 327, 8 shot. They also made a 4" 8 shot 627 for about one year. Had that one as well
