Will the 15-22 fall under an AWB?

I never felt the need or desire for an AR style rifle. In fact, I view them as too conspicuous to suit my needs. For home defense I have a 9mm pistol and a Beretta 9mm carbine. For close in work my Mini 14 is more than adequate and if I need to reach out and touch something my scoped Remington Model 700 will do the job. True it is not mean looking, but it can do the job at 300 - 400 yards. True the Beretta is strange looking, but it is accurate within its range and no one will see it.

With all due respect, what are you doing on the 15-22 forum then? :D

For what it's worth here in Blighty we have fairly strict gun controls and .22LR semi-autos are still allowed. Even with 25+ round mags. Higher calibres can't be semi-auto though. Oh, and every gun has to be registered with the authorities. No hand guns either unless the overall length is 16 (I think) inches. You have to have a reason to own anything other than a shotgun. ie. be an active member of a club or have land to shoot on that is approved by the police for the calibre you want.

In ny they look through your medical history

But in a country with no national health care system to have a history you'd have to have flipped already. Are there any standard tests that everyone goes through?

State laws and state constitutions cannot abrogate Federal statutes. That is, if there is a federal law re guns, state law cannot say we're going to ignore it. Pretty much all the Louisiana Constitutional Amendment did was require strict scrutiny by the Louisiana courts of any gun regulations passed by the Louisiana legislature.

Tell that little tale to the New York State Police and the NYC Port Authority. They BOTH routinely ignore the federal law allowing one to transport firearms through their respective jurisdictions. If you get stopped and they find firearms, even in locked containers, YOU WILL GO TO JAIL. It happens quite often.

I believe they can, such as in California, marijuana is legal on a state level because they decided so, while the federal law stands firm. It just means a state LEO won't arrest you, but a fed can.

Here in Washington state Seattle wants the ability to pass local gun laws and bypass the state constitution which is really very 2A friendly. Seattle has tried that in the past and it has been shot down pretty handily. They would need to put it to a vote by the people. As liberal a state as this is Washington has a lot of gun owners (except Seattle of course).

It was 22, and they were not killed. But yes, they will find a way. Bath, MI 1927. OKC, OK 1995.

Yep, got my facts wrong due to hearing it on AM radio today. I looked it up. 21 died and 90 injured in school slashing since 2010. Plenty children have died in schools in China, with no guns. Let's ban crazy! The UK is far more violent per capita than the US. Even though we have wider gun access. I own an M&P 15x also. It's scary what this administration has planned to do to our 2nd amendment rights. Wow was a difference a week makes. Try finding 30 round PMAG's good luck!

If you haven't written your Senator or member of Congress, you'd better...

I bet every one of his goons around him are packing. Bet my paycheck.

Speed limits don't stop speeders. Drunk driving laws don't stop drunk drivers. Laws against rape don't stop rapist. Placing age limits on the purchase of alcohol and cigarettes doesn't stop underage drinking and smoking. And people believe creating more gun control laws is going to stop idiots and from getting a gun and killing people. How stupid can one be. Until the moral decline of our country is stopped and the people stop relying on government to solve their problems, tell them what and how to think this country will continue to sink lower and lower into moral decline until it destroys itself.

Oh, I was in no way addressing what happens on the ground. My comments were the legal aspect of things. Various jurisdictions are constantly violating civil right and/or federal and state laws and getting away with it. (It is illegal to run a stop sign .... doesn't mean it doesn't happen.)

Laws don't prevent anything. They simply give you a yardstick to measure punishment against after the fact.
