Wilson Combat .38 Super, .45 cal, 9mm all-in-one gun

Put a perfect .38 Super Wilson up for sale on a Texas on-line classifieds site last night. Priced it to sell, so I was talking to the buyer by 10 o'clock this morning.

This poor guy says "You can just drop a .45 barrel in it and shoot .45, right?". I say no and we talk and he wants to meet half-way which is okay 'cause I want to go to Houston anyway. He says "Let me run to the bank and I'll call you back." He calls back and says "You said you can shoot 9mm out of that too, right?". I say no. I don't know where he got that. He tells me how hard it is to get .38 ammo and all and I do my best to explain that it is a .38 Super.

Met him and sold it, of course. If I thought he could hurt himself with it, I wouldn't have sold it. He was a super-nice fella'. I think he was Vietnamese or Laotian. Poor guy said his wife was gonna' be mad. Says he buys guns just to have them and to look at. The way he said it was kind of painful to hear. He sounded like he just can't help himself.

After that it was on in to Houston to order a 14-foot kayak (Tarpon 140). You can have Houston. I really, really do not like that place.

You shoulda kept it. I've been shooting my Colt .38 Super more because I can still find ammo and bullets for reloading in that caliber. Darned good round too.

Perhaps like fine wine, his ownership of it will improve with his aging and maturing?
I'll readily confess to having a soft spot in my heart for the load. And I've been in the tank for 1911's since Eisenhower was carrying his own golf clubs? So if he eats lots o' fish oil over the weekend, maybe by starting time Monday he'll feel a whole lot better!

Sadly, I'm starting to agree with you. I've lived in Houston (suburbs) for 12 years, and it isn't as nice a place as when I got here. People just seem very agitated all the time now. You can't say anything to anyone you don't know without almost starting a scrap over it.

My sister moved to Sachse recently, and it's very laid back there. My wife wants to move there now.

Conversion of 38 Super..

I have been trying for years to find a reasonably priced Colt Commander in 38 Super as you can fit a 45 full length slide on it with barrel and it will function properly..although the dust cover is a little short on the frame..swap a 9MM barrel with the Super slide and you have a 9MM sidearm..put a 22LR conversion kit on top of the frame and that too will function properly..this multi-caliber conversion was discussed in either Guns and Ammo or Shooting Times back in the early 80's..this may not work with a Wilson frame as I have not heard of it being done..
