Why don't you call Winchester Customer Service and ask? They have always answered honestly whenever I have had reason to ask specifics about their products.

There are new not blue boxes of Winchester primers??? I just bought some and they were all blue boxes still. Is this something new?

Maybe ArchAngelCD can clarify the color issue. I haven't seen yellow, but haven't looked recently either. My original question was the result of a mfg. move rumor.

The older Winchester primer were silver colored, but that changed about 10 years ago.

LOL, I didn't say the box was yellow I was talking about the primers themselves. The older primers were Nickel plated so they were silver and the newer ones are not plated so they are yellow brass. I was trying to verify these were the newer primers so the place of origin was current too.

This is on the back of the primer box and it's from the newer primers, the yellow ones.

Winchester
East Alton, IL.

Made by The Olin Corp.
Made in the USA
East Alton used to be Quite a Nice Village to grow up in, I did 60's-78, not horrible by any means now, just not as nice. Olin has Approximately 4 Square miles of Ground there, lots of deer and turkey

Haven't they had both nickel and brass primers forever? I'm not sure what "old" means but I have brass WLPs from around 2002.

Everything Win I have bought came in the blue boxes and was yellow brass. New Remington, CCI, and Federal that I have bought were all nickel plated.

You can cut and paste the lat/long into Google and it will pull up a map. Make sure you are in Satellite view.

Look SW of the indicated marker.

Those are the actual primer huts for manufacturing primers at the East Alton IL plant.

Been there. Not much to see.
