Winchester WLP primers or standard or MAGNUM loads???

Loading up .44 mag and the book calls for magnum primers. Are the Winchester large pistol primers really magnum. CCI has a whole differnt number for the standard v/s the magnum. Are the winchesters magnum . The box says for standard or magnum loads.. What do you say?? I have several boxes of these Winchesters..Just wondering

They are definitely "hotter" than a standard primer. I've chrono'd their results along side CCI350 and they give identical result. However, I did have a couple WLPs crack with 44mag loads and I've since switched completely to CCI350. My guess is that the cup material thickness on WLP is a tad thinner to improve sensitivity.

Winchester must think so. They make WW296 powder. I doubt they'd make a primer which wouldn't light their own powder.

You do know Winchester isn't making any powders any more, right? They are being manufactured in the St. Marks plant and distributed but Hodgdon but I do know what you mean...
