I might have over paid for this but they rarely show up so I committed to this one. It came with a letter and had post war magnas on it. I had period correct service stocks and a factory K frame grip adaptor I bought from a forum member about a year ago thinking I may have something one day to put it on. That plan worked out. There’s a fair bit of muzzle wear but overall I’m satisfied with this new addition to the ever growing pre war collection.

These don't come up for sale very often.

I am now of the opinion that I would rather have fewer and better. So instead of having four $750 guns that are nice, I would rather have one $3000 gun that I want that is great. In fact I wish I had that opinion a while back.

Yes sir I agree with you. I’m on the hunt for 4 that I’m just gonna bide my time for.

Pre war

Triple lock
Kit gun
Terrier

Very nice, congratulations.
Have a question about grips. The letter says the gun shipped in 1927 with silver medallion stocks. I have always heard they were not available until 1929 or 1930. Also wonder when the grip adapters became available.

True, the silver medallion didn't show up until 1930 so I believe the letter is in error. I have a Regulation Police target from 1927 with a letter also stating that it shipped with silver medallion stocks but that couldn't be true as they didn't exist until 1930.

Jeff the gun actually showed up with post war magnas and I had the pre war service stocks here at the house. Not exactly correct but better than what it showed up with. So the letter may very well be correct.

I think it's great! The grips from just a little later, plus the grip adapter would be in keeping with some who bought a target, shot it awhile, then decided for a King Super Target upgrade. By that time, the grips and grip adapter would be available and added to the upgrade. Anyway, it makes a for good story...

That's a great looking King MP!!
I am sure you will enjoy shooting that gun. I have been addicted to King sight guns for a couple years now. I even keep a King catalog on my night stand for reference when needed.

I think King guns need targets to really get the feel of what they were in the day.A great set of KB ropers would be ideal.

I search high and low for roper grips whenever a King gun makes it to my safe.

Any firearm, revolver or semiauto with a King conversion proclaims to the World, “This gun belonged to a man who was serious about his shooting and was willing to pay for the best.” While they often show signs of use (since they were likely purchased to be used) it is rare to see one that was ever abused, a person who had a King-built gun appreciated a fine gun. Congratulations on a great find.
