I had a marvelous day at the range this morning with my new to me 4516-1. After 100 rounds of 200 gr H&G #68 SWC's , a box of WWB, and and a box of 230 gr GDHP's there were no failures of any kind. I expected this would happen as it's bigger brother, the 4506 always gave the same performance. I replaced the recoil spring and all mags springs just in case. I wish I had a box of the Flying Ashtray to try out as the 4506 fed those like it was made for them. I couldn't part with my last couple of boxes of them, however.

I've come to the conclusion after many types of pistols over the years and various types of ammo there are two (for me) pistols I'd bank my life on-3rd Gen pistols and HK 9mm and 45 pistols. Neither have given any problems of any sort with factory ammo and if I do my part, none with reloads. These are pistols to covet. My experiences with 1911's haven't been as charming.

I'm glad I'm not alone on preferring the 4506 over a 1911! I love my 1911...to look at. The 4506 is my go-to reliable AND pretty to look at 45 autoloader.

I do trust my two S&W 1911's but not the Colt and SA I had. they just wouldn't play right.:) However, they all are very magazine dependent.

Thumbs up on the 4506, 5906 and HK's!!
Just purchased a 639 and a 539 too to play with.
Second gens get a thumbs up from me too!
