Growing up, fresh fish was not as common as it is today. If it was fresh, my Dad and I probably caught it and it was bass, crappie, brim or catfish.
The only salmon that I ate, while growing up, was from a can and used for making salmon patties. OMG, that stuff was nasty and had pieces of bone in it causing further gaging. We had to endure that meal at least once a month until I was about 14 years old.
