You sold it cause of those scratches?I've never been a fan of coated guns but bought a Thompson/Center Pro Hunter FX muzzleloader with their WeatherShield coating anyway. My wife replaced my misplaced wedding ring in 2014 with one that is wider and has an edge on both sides of a raised section around its middle.
That's what happened to the coating when I grasped the barrel with my left hand while cleaning it between shots. I sold the gun and put that ring where it belongs - in a drawer.

Yes I did. I'm fussy about the condition of my guns - I have some that are 40+ years old and are still mark-free. Plus that's bare carbon steel under those scratches.
I put the gun on GunBroker.com and a young man in Ohio became its proud owner. I lost a little on it but replaced it with the gun I should have bought in the first place, a stainless steel Pro Hunter XT.

My 10-5 house gun, four-inch standard barrel, is fine mechanically and had a black coating (don't know if it's Cerakote) when I bought it for a knocking-around-the-woods-in-all-kinds-of-weather piece. I can't ramble around the woods anymore, but still have the gun and like it.
It's not unsightly to me; but I'm not a purist, just a pragmatist with very little money. I always bought guns that were functional. If they looked really good, and some did, that was a bonus.
