Would You Buy a Gun Just For An Interesting Serial Number?

Well I'm sad to say that when I went back this weekend that gun had been sold. I wish I had not slept on it but that's okay. Now I've got something to put on my "wish list" and the search continues ... Who knows. Around here a lot of nice guns I've passed up on end up back in the used section eventually. I've seen it happen over the years. Maybe that 7-7-7 model 14 will return to me, lol

I bought a Glock just for its serial number, and I don't even like Glocks. I won't say what it is, though - the Mods would probably ban me.

My father bought the first Remington Model 700 in 7mm mag that came into our part of the state in 1962. I inherited that gun and later gave it to my son so he would have something from the grandfather he never got to meet. A few years later I saw a Ruger old model 357 flat top type 1 gun and as I looked at the pictures, I realized that it had the exact same serial number as the 7 mag I gave my son. I naturally bought it and some day he will own two "classics" both with the same serial number of 2468.

Number 16 with serial numbered mags to match. I have 8 of them since it was my idea on the forum to do it.

I picked 16 out of the available 150 because I wanted 166 and they said I had to stay less then 150 so 16 came available.

How about a J frame centenial with serial number (3 letters)0076.

I spotted a Ruger MkII 5.5" bull barrel at a local shop. I commented that at the price they were asking it was a bargain. Clerk replied that another guy almost bought it but backed out when he saw the ser. #. Last three digits were 666. I bought it. So I guess I did buy a gun because of the serial number.

Interesting stories. I once owned a Mod. 27 with a serial number that ended in "357".

This has been posted before but, I acquired a very nice Mod. 60 for my daughter and noticed that the last four numbers of the serial number matched the last four number of my SSN. I was going to purchase the revolver anyway but, it sure makes it easy to remember.

I can honestly say I would Not buy a gun just because it had an interesting serial number.

But in the past I have purchased guns that had interesting serial numbers but I bought those guns because I liked them.

Not because of there serial numbers.

The 10/22 I picked up today is all zeros except for a 2 and a 5 one number in each section xxxx xxxxx

Yes, especially if I could find a 2-digit SN Baby Chief.

I'm with BAM-BAM...I'd buy Registered Magnum 1.

That's all I need, another reason to buy another gun.
It's difficult enough to restrain myself from buying just the ones I like, let alone with a special serial #
