I'm close to "pulling the trigger" on this one, but I'm wondering if this is still the weapon of choice for a 22lr pistol. Thanks for your opinions.

I've had more 22 pistols than I can count, but the M&P22 is by far the most fun and useful. I train for IDPA with it and use it for steel challenge too.

The rear sight is pretty distracting for me, and magazines are scarce. If you replace the sights and get spare magazines it is a nice pistol.

M&P by far, but I do happen to own a Sig Mosquito thats also .22LR.

I'll say the Sig holds it's on in the accuracy battle.

Have one and enjoy shooting it. Used it to help introduce a couple of new shooters to the sport. My wife has claimed it as her pistol, she loves plinking with it. So, yes, I would buy it again.

OK. I'll deviate slightly. I have an M&P 22 and a Sig Mosquito. I shoot the M&P mostly but to be honest, I wouldn't flip a coin for the difference. I have a bunch of M&Ps and that's the only SIG I own so far, but I'm looking hard at the P250 platform because it's so versatile and I've been so pleased with my Mosquito.

Just letting you know there are other choices. You can't go wrong with either one, IMO.

If I had to let one go, I guess it would be the Mosquito, but mostly because of my unending loyalty to S&W.

Absolutely. Its a fun pistol in its own right, and if you own other M&P's in larger calibers as I do it's great to train with. Obviously not quite the same as shooting a 9 or 40, but you can put a couple hundred rounds down range at a reasonable cost.

Absolutely, but I would not pay more than MSRP for it. For the money it is the most fun-to-shoot pistol I have owned.

Yep. Now that I managed to find a couple spare mags this is one of favorite firearms to shoot.

Love my M&P22, just so fun to shoot. BTW, the magazines are becoming more available and reasonably priced on eBay as well.

Thanks guys. I found a few spare mags for $30, and my lgs sells them for $369. I think I'll stick with S&W and their CS.

I would definitely buy it again, but I have a FS 9mm M&P. If you have other M&Ps I think that it is a great idea to pick up the 22 as a trainer (especially if you have kids that want to shoot). If you are patient you can get mags and ammo at reasonable prices.

Yes, but I'd worry about the new one and if I'd get all the FTE and FTF lots of people have with theirs. Mine has been extremely reliable with all the cheap stuff and the solid lead premium target ammo.

I'm more of a Glock guy, but the 3rd and 4th gens are not made to the same standard as the early versions.
