Last week, the boss at the LGS where I work p/t, sent me to a one-day S&W Armorer's Class for the M&P Auto.
It was enjoyable and I learned alot.
One of the perks of attending the class is the allowance to puchase ANY M&P for $199.
The wife's already got a M&P 9c. And for autos, I'm a pretty hardcore 1911 guy.

I don't know - would you do it?

Yep the MS .45 if you're a 1911 guy. You won't be sorry, especially at $199.

That is real simple, any M&P for $199 heck that is a give away, and if you don't like it you could always sell it to me for cost after taxes and shipping to my FFL Dealer right down the street!

This is where I would insert the "implied facepalm" picture if it wasn't copyrighted.

Would my dog accept a dog biscuit? Would Rush Limbaugh slam Obama? Would I eat a slice of deep dish Italian sausage pizza? Does the sun come up in the east? Are you really asking this question?

Take the course every day, buy a bunch of M&Ps at that price, and open your own shop! :D

Seriously, I would jump all over a M&P at $199! That's about $250 cheaper than you can find them around here.

Hey Old Corp,

Houdini1953 may have dibs on this and so being, respectfully merits first consideration, but if you for some hard to imagine reason, don't want the 'pick of the litter' on this gun for yourself, (you might have an arsenal that's overflowing) I'll raise the ante over any cost you incur, plus $50, (some flex there yet) via money order, wire transfer or whatever works for you, handle P&H of course and have it sent to my FLL dealer/smithy! Sounds better than sugar plums and fairies to a 5 y/o at Xmas time!

OK - ya'll are starting to make me think I oughta do this. Guess I'll pick the mid-size .45 with the thumb safety. Perhaps if I put the 'small' grip insert on it, it won't feel so foreign.

Three years ago, as I was preparing to retire from the PD, they were changing duty weapons from the old 4566. I was involved in the test and torture of some M&P .45's. Have to say, I was impressed with the accuracy (much better than the 4566) and reliability. They did adopt the M&P, but it was some months after I was gone - they gave me my 4566, which I never even take out of the safe. Compared to a 1911, it feels chunky and awkward.

Anyway - thanks for the input - guess I'll have to do the $199 deal. (Oh - as part of the program, if the S&W Rep. comes in the store and one is WEARING the M&P, he hands out a $100 Visa or Master gift card) It's like there's this conspiracy to make me take my 1911 off my belt......

If your family needs the cash to pay rent or eat this week no. Otherwise I would be filling out the paperwork as we speak.

OK.

Nothing like having a work gun.
