Would you own an M&P22 For Self Defense?

My primary CC weapon is a 9mm. In the summer months, I sometimes carry a .380.

That said, if the world goes to ****, and I have to "bug out" I can carry a heck of a lot more .22LR ammo than I can 9mm or .380....

I've always been a fan of 22WMR. Lately I have been watching this 911 Panic TV show. Often the crazies that break in rush the woman. With a low recoiling smooth round like the 22WMR a woman could get off several shots (and I would not want to be on the other end of them). On the other hand, with a heavier caliber and its associated flash and recoil, a woman might not recover quickly enough from the first shot to get off a second/third. If that single shot misses or only wings him she's in a world of hurt and could get shot with her remaining rounds. No "right" answer, its a tough call but that is my contribution.

It would not be my first choice. Rimfire ammo is not as reliable as centerfire, no matter what weapon you pick. If you can get over that, shot placement is the key. Two or three quick rounds to the chest and a couple to the head will certainly take the fight out of anybody.

There is better options out there, but I would much rather she carry a 22, then try to sternly reason with an attacker.
