I was talking with a dr recently who worked with drug addicts.She told me even heroin addicts in her care would get clean but nicotine was a different story

Ummm, maybe it's the Loosianna accent, but it reads like a lot of mixed ethnic terms. Goy being Yiddish (IIRC) for us gentiles and the bodegas were usually down in the barrio.....unless it's become generic, like Kleenex.
I was at Lowe's earlier buying replacement deck boards. At those prices I could have bought red wood instead of pine awhile back.

Was in the local stop and rob and overheard a customer deciding NOT to buy a pouch of Levi Garrett chewing tobacco when he heard the price.....$18.60This is not some place special, just your average run of the mill stop and rob...what you goys up north call a Bodega.

Reckon never getting into smoking or weed has saved me a bunch of money over the years.

I had a close friend awhile back, not a "girl friend", but just a friend. Another friend, a guy, was a real hunk. He also was a chewing tobacco kinda guy.
She was enamored by him and eventually flirted until he asked her out.
After their first date I saw her and she said what a letdown. She said his breath was so bad that she could not kiss him.
Some time later I met a girl that would eventually be my wife. Just after our first date I gave up smoking. Years later she told me that if I had not done that she would have dumped me.

I have never smoked, chewed, or drank coffee. Have also been sober for over 18 years.
That is exactly the hoped-for result of government-mandated increases in tobacco prices, and I for one am glad to see it.
Tobacco is the only consumer product that, when used as directed, sickens users and shortens their lives. Nobody "needs" tobacco, there is no therapeutic benefit from using it, and it serves no purpose other than to harm those who use it.

Maybe if our leaders could conduct themselves in a manner where they did not have to print more money constantly to cover their spendthrift ways we might get to buy something for the same price two days in a row.
Taxes on cigarettes and tobacco went up to pay for smoking cessation programs that they stopped after a couple years... mainly so the politicians could waste the money for their pet projects....just like almost all other taxes
Not a big fan of the gooberment taxing things into oblivion. As some have suggested/tried/done for guns and ammunition. Tobacco products are no good for you, but it be a personal choice. As are multiple things that cause illness/ill health.
Apparently taxes take priority over health.
Don't you just hate it when the .gov tells you that these taxes or fees will be " dedicated " to this or that , and somehow they never are .

If you decide your going to be a burden on health care and rest home systems you should pay for it up front.
Although I am not a fan of the government piddling away the tobacco taxes or lawsuit bucks. But, then I am not a big fan of a lot of what the government spends OUR money on.

I guess that's why hazardous alcohol taxes are high too.
I loved RedMan.........But it got too expensive......The administration prior to 2016 was the one that put high taxes on tobacco products.
