Bought it for just over two ($100) bills, and took 'eem home n' cleaned 'eem for the range tonight!! Going to shoot it tonight at the range, which is a late night outdoor range day.

Been looking for one of these for a long time but no shops had them (for long). Guy behind the counter said he sells a bunch and they go quick. Love that this gun is affordable and is like the guns they carried in the Western movies!! Going to have to watch a Western film tonight to celebrate!!

Range report to come!! Trigger seems excellent and all works well. Thanks guys!!!

-Jay :)

Looks like you already switched the grips. There's another multi-page thread on here. Look it up.

Wow, the grip switch out looks great! Ruger will sell a ton of them. Holding out for a Birdshead Grip variation- Jay

Wrangling a Wrangler Six Shooter #2002

Congratulations on your new purchase of that
Ruger Wrangler. The wood grips make it look
nice.

Ruger tough, fit, trim, easy on the eyes, inherently
safe handling, easy take down to clean, and accurate.

I have read a lot of good things about the
Wrangler.

I have yet to see and inspect one, someday.

Thank you for sharing your Story and Picture.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

Alright guys, well the loading gate on my particular Wrangler is extremely stiff. Even after cleaning and thoroughly lubing it, and opening it and closing it several hundred times, it's still quite bad. So bad, I have to flip the revolver on end and use my opposite thumb while turning the frame to pry it away from the recoil shield.

I looked it up and this seems a highly common complaint. Today I rang Ruger CS and the guy told me this is a very common complaint and it's because the Wranglers are not machined as carefully. He said they had a special "grease packet" he could send me that should help.

Well guys, look for a thorough review of the Ruger Grease Packet™ in due time! :o

I also did research and on another forum, a guy took his latch spring out and bent it in a vice, curing the issue. But that sounds sketchy to me and I'd rather not so let's see if the special grease packet helps!!

Looking to get one as well. Looks good!
Those aren't the factory grips are they, thought they came through with black plastic

Nice black Wrangler. The silver and the bronze versions are both interesting, but not desirable for me. Recently I bought a good-priced used Single-Six to relieve the Wrangler "want". That worked until the next trip to my fav LGS. They had a few Wranglers a month back. None now. Had to ask, again...

Nice wood handles! They look a heck of a lot like the Lipsey's version of the GP-100 with the 5" barrel that I've been contemplating to the point of "I NEED that gun, Honey! Please! I'll sell my Heritage to make up for it!" Sorry...I think I'm gonna have to get a new .22! Dang, that gun looks cool. Good luck with the grease. JT

I have the same black Wrangler with the Ruger wood grips! Really gives the SA revolver a classy look in my opinion. My loading gate seems to be loosening up with more rounds down range! My first SA revolver is great fun to shoot. This Ruger seems well built and durable. Very satisfied after having it for 6 weeks

The Wrangler and other single action revolvers look nice, but I settled on an old Single Six. I hope that you get a lot of enjoyment from your Wrangler. FYI, Academy Sporting Goods carries them.

Are these near the size of the Bearcat vs the Single Six?

My local FFL has a couple of the Bearcats, but boy howdy!, is he proud of them! Neat little guns though, considerably smaller than the single six he also has.

Rob

The Wrangler is a Single Six with lower cost materials used in the receiver
and grip frame and a baked on finish rather than blue. Internal parts are
interchangeable with the Single Six.

I tore it down and bent the cylinder spring a bit. Now the latch is easy to open! Found the idea on another board. Works great! There is a bit of "drag" on the cylinder due to the latch rubbing on it. It has some fore and aft play. Not bad though, again, this is a $200 revolver! I bought it as a range and woods beater and no problem if it isn't as smooth as a multi thousand dollar custom.
