I'm refining my collection and am offering these old S&W topbreaks for sale. All prices include shippping. I will ship only to the continental US. Many of them are antiques and do not require a federal fire arms license for shipping. Those that are Curio and Relics will be listed in the ad.
A. 38 Double Action 1st model. Maybe the best one surviving. 3 1/4 inch barrel, 99 %plus original nickel finish. It has the straight cut side plate that only first model DAs have. All numbers match including the excellent hard rubber grips. The patent dates on the bottem on the grips are perfect. The hammer and trigger have excellent case color and the blue on the trigger gaurd is also supurb. It comes with the proper box (not pictured) but it is not numbered to the gun. The box is not in as good a shape as the gun. There is a slight blemish on left side of front sight and slight turn ring. This gun, serial number 767, shipped in April of 1880. $1550 without the box, $1700 with the box including shipping.
B. Early 1st Model 32 Single Action, serial number 309. It has the 3 1/2 inch barrel as all of the really early 32 SAs did. It has the original nickel finish 95% on the left side and about 90% on the right side. This is the very early variation with no pat info on the top strap ( 1st 1000 made ) and the eccentric strain screw under the grips ( 1st 6500 made ). It has the correct no logo grips which are numbered to the gun. All numbers match. It comes with a very good proper green Single Action box (not Pictured ) which is not numbered to the gun. $650 shipped.
1. 32 Smith & Wesson Double Action, serial # 133. This very early gun was shipped in the first month of production. All numbers match on butt, barrel latch, and cylinder. I can find no numbers on the grips, which are the scarce floral or "wild turkey" pattern. It comes with an unnumbered very early double action box. $750 shipped. It is an antique.
2. Sold 32 Safety Hammerless 3rd model serial # 228123. It has it's original blue finish and 3 inch barrel. The blue finish is 99% with excellant case color and Hard Rubber grips. The numbers all match. It comes with the scarce display or "patent" box that is proper for a 32 safetys made in the 20s. This is a C&R gun, and requires a C&R license or an FFL to ship. $700 shipped.
3. Sold PF Smith & Wesson 38 Safety Hammerless 2nd model, serial# 13387. It was shipped late in the first year of production. This is an early 2nd model with the original finish and a 3 1/4 in. barrel. It is probably the best finish on any 120 year old gun that I've ever seen. Everything is completely original and all #s match. It has excellent case color on the trigger and excellent blue on the trigger gaurd. It does not appear to have been fired. It comes with a box that also looks new. $ 1000 shipped with both sets of grips, and $ 950 with just the original Hard Rubber grips. An antique.
4. 38 Smith & Wesson Double Action 2nd model, serial # 4302. This old Double Action was shipped in the first year of production. It has the somewhat scarce blue finish and 3 1/4 in. barrel. All numbers match including the scarce orange mottled grips. It comes with a box that has some water stain, but is absolutely correct for this gun. This is also an antique. $650 shipped.
5.Smith & Wesson 38 Single Action "Baby Russian" serial # 14510. Everything about this gun is in fine condition. All numbers match. It comes with probably the best Baby Russian picture box in anyones collection. The box is stamped as a nickel finish on the lid. This one is truely exceptional. It is an antique. $ 2150 shipped.
6. Sold 38 Safety Hammerless 2nd model, seriaal # 24219. It has a somewhat scarce blue finish, and 3 1/4 inch barrel. Every thisg is original and all numbers match. The finish was rated by David Carroll at 98% +. It comes with very nice box that is proper for the model and type.
It has excellent blue and case color. It is an antique and requires no license for shipping. $950.
7. 38 Safety Hammerless 4th model, serial #158966. It's a blue finish 3 1/4 inch barrel and all #s match. This is a US Express gun. It has USX stamped on the frame under the cylinder, and the serial number on the side of the frame as most express co. guns do. It comes with a 4th model New Departure box for a blue revolver. This is a C&R gun and requires a C&R license or FFL to ship. $600 shipped
8. 38 Safety Hammerless 5th model, serial #223596. This is a 5inch barrel nickel finished revolver. The five inch barrel is somewhat scarce and the five inch box is rare. All numbers match, the finish is at least 98%. It comes with hard rubber grips or you can purchase it with pearl medallion grips added. This is also a C&R gun and requires a license for shipping. $1000 with both sets of grips or $850 with just the hard rubber grips.
All prices are non negotiable.
thanks for looking,
