Want to trade for S&W Model 3, prefer target models, or a triple lock.
Edited 6/16/2015** or will sell for $2350!
1892 Winchester rifle, serial number 724, 44 WCF.
Appears to be short rifle with 20" barrel.
Standard magazine for rifles holds 13 rounds - this magazine holds only 11.
According to Cody, this is a first year gun with the following information:
Type: Rifle
Caliber: 44
Barrel Type: Octagon
Trigger: Plain
Received in warehouse on August 27, 1892
Shipped from warehouse on August 30, 1892, Order number 3286
Cody had no information on barrel length, but the 11 round magazine length indicates it left the factory with a barrel shorter than the standard 24"; however, it is possible that the original barrel was cut and the magazine tube replaced with a carbine length one. It is what it is - a very early gun with a very low serial number. It is in good working condition, but was obviously a working gun. Note: ramp for rear sight is missing.
The woman who had this rifle had no history on it other than her grandfather won it in a card game in the 1920's.
Some additional pictures.....
