WYOMING

Spent a lot of time around Pinedale in the 62 years I've lived here (not quite as long as Iggy but close!). Fremont Lake is a spectacular natural lake just a few miles above town. They had a big oil and gas boom there a few years ago but that seems to be tapering off now. Hunting is excellent and you can't beat the summers. Winters can be long but you can take up snowmobiling. Pinedale is a great place if you love the outdoors, not so much if your taste runs to malls and fancy restaurants. The nearest "high end" shopping would be Jackson and that's about 90 miles each way - makes for a nice afternoon's ride in the country! Lots of good folks live there and they have a fine gun club. It ain't always easy country to live in, and a lot of people don't last long there. Those that do love it!

As Wyo says, Fremont lake is a beautiful place. Water comes off of snow in mountains just above it. It is so clear you can see the bottom and the fish swimming there to surprising depths.

Went water skiing there one 4th of July. The water was so cold it was almost hard, like ice cold hard.

I skipped about 3 times before it got soft enough for me to sink into it.;)

RB,
Most of the WY folks on the forum live in the low rent areas...compared to Jackson and Cody. Iggy, WYO, Colt45forever and I all live in the South Eastern corner of Heaven. Neil was the last to arrive, but as his license plate bracket says" I wasn't Born Here, but I Got Here as Soon as I Could".
Debbie and I retired here about seven years ago yesterday, haven't found any reason to move on.
I am the odd ball, don't hunt, don't fish and don't get out in the wilds to see what is there. I do know that there are things out there bigger than I am and they will eat you hole. So i stay in the flat lands and get my meat at Safeway. if they run out then Bambi better beware.
One thing you will immediately realize when you get here is that there are more traffic signals, people and cars in the major cities where you are now than we have in the entire state of Wyoming.
Better get her fast before the Greenies and Kalfornians take all of the good space first.
Looking forward to getting together with you at one of our shows.

All this talk about it bein' cold kinda depends on what you do for a living. I work outside around water. When it is below zero it's no fun. If you can get out of the cold it's not that bad.

Some day I will figure this out for myself and go inside.

Lived in Casper and Big Piney. Went to Pinedale many times and had probable the best steak I've ever had in my life there. I can't recall the name of the place but folks were very nice in town. Casper was also a decent place, lat 70's and the folks were very pleasant as well. Wish I never left.

All

This is what makes this forum a great place to be apart of.
Iggy the link was great Thanks millions for the thought.
Wyo good info. and heads up on the ins and outs of the life style!
Every one has great and helpful info!
let me say that not being around malls and fancy restaurants I can live with that live that way now. I have been one lets say that needs a little elbow room. Like to keep it simple and good. If all goes well tomorrow and my boss approves my vacation we will be there for vacation June 16th taking a couple of weeks and driving out. We want to check everything out,
see what the area is like in person. To be honest I really look forward to going and taking it all in.

Thanks
RB

It will be wonderful in June. You need to check it out in January too.;)

I don't really have much to add, the others have pretty well described the area. I just wanted to say "hello" from the northwest corner of the state.
