Recently following in the footsteps of some of my colleagues who work bear areas such as Admiralty Island as I do, I bought a 460 for next Spring. After a couple weeks, here are my Chest Rig Preferences along with a cross-draw.

-Diamond D Guides Choice - instantly adjustable. You can go from a parka to a flannel shirt.
-Nice little reload holder although I have a fast loader in my pocket.

Galco Great Alaskan
-Once adjusted the Galco is the most comfortable, but more difficult to adjust
-Prefer the Galco's snap to the Diamond D's little leather nod to the Nineteenth Century.
-Prefer the Galco's slightly wider shoulder strap.
-While the Galco is slightly more comfortable, the adjustment system is much more complicated but effective.

Diamond D - Cross draw
-Very quick on and off. I have a 1 1/2 Galco belt threaded through my flannel-lined jeans, and then a second 1 3/4 Galco belt dedicated to the cross draw holster.
- Under a coat, over a coat, easy to drive with it by rotating it to side of hip.

Not trying to be complicated, just explaining my choices.

Pictures: D-Diamond Guides Choice, Galco Great Alaskan, Diamond Cross draw over the coat then under the coat. Transition to Glock's 10mm for for most Winter wilderness carry. There is a highly effective 'bear early warning system' in picture 4.

Thanks for the great first hand info!

Handsome early warning system too.

That Diamond D is a beauty. I bought a cheap knockoff from Natchez about 5 yrs ago for my 6” 629. It also holds a full reload. While it has served me well while in the woods it doesn’t come close to your Diamond D in the looks Dept.

Very nice looking early warning system. I like the cross draw set up. Are you left-handed or is that just some I phone thing? I’ve been carrying cross draw lately with winter clothing coming on. Just wish I had that fancy six-shooter Doc Holliday is sporting.

Kydex question

Interesting- it looks like your Glock has a trigger release holster
I curious how safe is it with the Glock? Any special procedure for holstering to avoid activation of the trigger?

Inquiring mindset is my curse I guess 🙂

My recollection is that the problem comes on the draw. I don't know if it still correct, but as a few years ago, FLETC and the actual federal agencies prohibited that holster.
