x frame grip for model 29 classic

hi--first post on forum:

just got a new model 29 classic, square butt w/wood grips. can i replace with model 500 grips and if not, what suitable recoil absorbing grips are appropriate for this revolver?

Sorry, can't do... the X-frame 500 is a round butt grip frame.

Are you sure that your 29 Classic is a square butt frame and not just wearing a round to square conversion grip?

My 629 classic is a round butt and the M500 grips fit perfectly.

Hi, I am new to the site, this is my first post, I have a S&W Model 29 Classic with 8 3/8 in. barrel. It has the round butt and came with Rubber grips with the S&W logo on each side in silver, also came with 5 front sight inserts, Ser.#12 purchased 1991, new in box, still new in box.
