Yet Another Use for Hoppes #9

Amyl acetate smells of pears and apples.

I'd say it has more of a banana aroma. At least fruity. I've heard that the original Hoppe's formula had a dab of nitromethane in it that provided the distinctive smell.

I see the myth of Hoppe's harming gun finishes is still alive and well.

I used to date a girl that wore Chanel #9. Really expensive stuff. Then I met another girl that liked the smell of Hoppes #9. Been with her 46 years now. She even has her own pistol permit.

This stuff is simply awesome and i've used it for 60 years now. This thread got me wondering if it has any effect on the virus.

If I get it I'll drink a little. Can't be any worse....

Today's Hoppes #9 is not the formulation of the older original product.

As to stuck chewing gum, WD 40, yes, good old WD40 removes it easily.

I have used Hoppes for a long time, but it still stinks to me. If it smelled like the Shalimar (spelling?) that I used to buy my wife, I would spray it around the house.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I dare ya to dab a little behind your ear before shopping at Walmart or pigly wigly. You’ll have to beat the gals off with a Stick... or Taser.

I have what's left of a small bottle of No9 from the early 50s that I use for that very purpose.

Not for shopping, but just for my wife of 44 years. Think I'll dab some on now.

Rob
