Yikes! Mayo on hot dogs?

I like my hotdog buns lightly toasted. I find little mayonnaise on the bun gives me a better toasted surface than butter. Does that count as putting mayo on my hotdog???

As to topping the dog and dressing the bun it is mustard, chopped onion and dill relish.

I don’t like mayo on anything!
I use sour cream or cream cheese where most might use mayo.

On hot dogs, my preference is chili, shredded cheese, diced onions.

Why not? I used to think tartar sauce was gross. Tartar sauce on French fries even worse. But it's really good!

When I was a kid my favorite uncle put mayo on his hot dogs, I never did until 55 years later, after reading about Duke's mayo on THIS site. Now, I all most always put the Duke's on my hot dogs, UNLESS I am adding relish!

I leave the grease off of everything except a sandwich made of dry, day-old Thanksgiving turkey. The lube helps it to slide down and it certainly is an asset if it comes back up.

Mayo on sausage, Peppers and onions?
Yes.

On hotdogs??
No...

This hardcover edition is in my cookbook library! ;)

Ketchup on steak, pineapple on pizza, mayo on dogs, Pachmayrs on Smiths - if you don’t like it, don’t do it. Other than that, its not your bizness.

My cousins used to freak because I ate stuff like lettuce and carrots raw. They would would look at my plate in horror, 'But it's not cooked!' They were all younger than me, so I used to say 'Have you ever watched a Bugs Bunny cartoon where he cooks his carrots?' It didn't bring them around at all.

I'm off mayo a bit. I don't know if we keep ours too long or if I've developed an intolerance to it, but for a few years now meals with mayo have had consequences on occasion. Shame really, because I have always liked it.

Yeah, I like mayo - not on hotdogs, though. Lately, though, it tends to give me pretty serious indigestion. The rare times I eat hotdogs it's mustard, dill relish, and sometimes jalapeno slices and onions.

Jalapenos are good on pretty much anything - even pizza. No to pineapple. Yes to jalapenos. Hmm . . . never tried them on ice cream. I wonder how that would be?

no mayo... Miracle Whip... and yes I have tried all the different kinds of mayo... never liked it.. even as a kid... started putting cheese, bbq sauce, sweet relish & Miracle Whip on hotdogs in college.. 40 years ago.... worked then, works now.. and we don't have ketchup in the house at all... 5 different mustards, no ketchup.

Someone up there said ketchup on beef dogs, so shoot me. Would you please hold still? I’m only kidding. Eat what you like!
When I worked at the New Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe, we ate anything we wanted for free, in lieu of pay! I put Hershey Syrup on a hot dog and loved it! I do like mayo on fries, much to the chagrin of some wait staff. Chili and cheddar cheese on a hot dog is the best. Also, chili and cheese on fries is the only way I eat them when I’m at one of the Hot Dog Shoppes. (They’ve expanded since the ‘70s).
Anything with Hershey syrup on it is good.

I was in Chile last year. Thier way is a "Completo", an average sausage on a very tall bun with tomatoes, avocado, mayo and a red sauce that might be called catsup in some stretch. I had one to say I did but far preferred Argentina's "Choripan" or Chorizo on bread roll.

Granddaughter looks her nose down on anything less than a chile cheese dog.
