Yikes! Mayo on hot dogs?

My favorite "hotdog" isn't a hotdog at all. It's a sandwich roll with a venison oktoberfest sausage and mustard. For this I prefer a brown mustard rather than the standard yellow. After a day of hunting, 2-3 of those will set you right.

Mayo, ketchup and mustard on my dogs, plus chopped onions.

Bunch of culinary cowards around here

Pineapple is also alright on a pizza from time to time

However, I would never ever dilute my home made chili by putting it on a hotdog

My rule is if it is cold like a ham sandwich it gets mayo. Hot gets mustard. I do like potato chips dipped in mayo but not FFs

I like Mayonnaise on a lot of things, especially hamburgers with lettuce:D:D:D, but the thought of Mayo on a hot dog gags me.

Sandwiches for me start with half and half mustard / Duke's lightly spread on the bread, I want the taste not have to eat it.
Mr. Bates earlier mentioned mayo on the toasted bun. That I must try.
Too much mayo on anything will ruin anything for me.

Mayo goes on Turkey sandwiches.....

....NOT on hot dogs. Mustard, relish, chili, yes.

Oh, and I'll have y'all know that after that hot dog thread a week or so ago, I specifically asked for some 'Nathan's' and yes they were delicious and what a hot dog SHOULD taste like.

The only hotdog I can eat is a chili cheese dog Wienerschnitzel. :)

Kenny,
Thank you for your pics and stories on this sight, but the chili on
that dog is an abomination. Visit back east and sample Good hot dog chili. Just don't try Fla.- Moved here in 83 from SC And haven't had a good chili dog since !! ;)

Mayo on a toasted bun, yes, as a lubricating base layer for mustard, relish, onions, sport peppers and Ambassador old-fashioned wieners.
Mayo on fries was a taste I acquired working in Amsterdam, driving a fork lift at Dam Chips.

I suspect mayo provides more buoyancy than mustard to float your bun. Saur kraut, that's another question.

In the immortal words of Harry Callahan in the movie, Dirty Harry, "Nobody, but nobody puts ketchup on a hotdog."

How about pasta?

I'm from N.Y. so it's a Sabrett hot dogs with sauerkraut and mustard.
Or the onion sauce that's made by Sabrett!
Any hot dog truck has both!

My favorite hotdog is a Nathan’s or Hebrew National wiener with mustard, chili, onions, and slaw. But, every now and then, I make what I call a hotdog sandwich. I cook 2 hotdogs, then split them down the middle, put them cut side down on a slice of bread with mayo, top with a slice of favorite cheese and the other slice of bread with mayo. It is much more “eat on the go” friendly than the way I like my hotdogs. Very tasty, and a little different from a regular hotdog.
