Yikes! Mayo on hot dogs?

I enjoy hot dogs when I don't feel like cooking a lot. I like the beef dogs with mustard, chili, and chopped onions. Pretty simple, no mayo or ketchup, and very seldom relish, usually if I'm trying to empty a jar. I've been hearing about Hebrew National but hadn't seen any in the stores, until yesterday. I bought a pack and will try them in a couple of days.

When Kiwi Cop and Karen were in Chicago we went to Portillo’s for lunch and Brent had Chicago Hotdogs, hopefully he enjoyed them.

We surely loves our Mediterranean meat sauce.

Cincinnati chili - Wikipedia
The recipe for Cincinnati chili is flexible according to who makes it and what ingredients are available. My mother always added unsweetened dark chocolate. That makes the chili almost black. My grandmother did not use chocolate in hers. She preferred using ground sausage to hamburger.

Often the first thing I put on a hot dog, followed by myriad other condiments, toppings. :p

Never had a Chicago hot dog in Chicago. But intuitively, can someone explain why a Chicago hot dog would be any different from a hot dog in Miami, Detroit, or Seattle? Or my kitchen?

One of my son's childhood friends took his hot dog with mayo. It grossed everybody out. I've done jalapenos but that's because they are common on everything around here.

My personal preference is jalapeno relish rather than slices. It's just like any other relish. Relish is allowed.

mrchick explained a Chicago dog.
Detroit coneys are natural casing franks (grilled or boiled) on a plain steamed bun. They're topped with loose burger or chili made with heart (no beans), onions and mustard. Yum!

Eat whatcha like and ignore the robots.

Blasphemy. Haha.

For me, it's just ketchup, mustard, and relish. Just a simple man, I guess.
