So it turns out that you can pocket carry a K-Frame snub. You just have to have the right holster and the right pants.

This is my 1954 M&P snub in a FIST Kydex pocket holster. It disappears just fine in my Walmart khaki pants. The pants have sufficiently sized front pockets for the gun to just disappear. It's not at all uncomfortable when seated either.

I totally agree

I will often carry my N-frame Model 327 Night Guard in the front pocket of my 5.11 Covert Khakis.

The 5.11 Covert Khakis have wonderful front pockets. Prior to 5,11 introducing the II version the front pockets were sewn in the shape of a handgun. I wish they would bring the original style back, but the current ones are very good

Concealing a personal defensive firearm is seldom about the size of the firearm, it is almost always about the clothes that you wear. As the saying goes: Dress for the gun

The above image was taken over a quarter century ago, well before the craze of teeny tiny pistols.

This man is carrying more than just the Glock . . . Much, much More

In the July 1993 issue of Guns and Ammo, there was an article on hideout holsters written by Bill O'Brien.

The gentleman in the above photograph is the late John Bianchi, famed holster maker, and he is carrying 32 concealed firearms  Here are some of them

.

Hopefully he does not get tossed into the water carrying that much ballast :)

I tried one of those bicep gun holders he is wearing but they don't make them for my size biceps.

Mine are so small! :)
I have never thought about K frame pocket carry. I think it is a great idea, they are much easier than a J to shot well.

I think that outfit would make cutting the lawn pretty interesting.

That Bianchi pic is great - this video is also a classic.

That's nice but I would want a round butt. As much as I like my K frame Smiths, I don't really care for the shape of the square butt grips. To me it's like trying to hold a funnel upside down.
But my grips are squared on the bottom. The ones in the pic look rounded.

FWIW, Michael deBethencourt has talked about carrying a Model 12 in his pocket, which would be easier than a steel K-frame.

Of course, everybody's different. For me and my wardrobe, an Airweight J-frame is about the upper limit for comfortable pocket carry, and a pocket .380 has been on my "want" list for quite some time so I can pocket carry more comfortably/discreetly.

Just to see if it would fit, I once put a 4 inch 686SSR in my 5.11 pants. The right side slash pocket, not the cargo pocket. The boot grip was below the top of the pocket, but could be seen from some angles. My 442 tends to get turned sideways in the bottom of the pocket in my Mica holster. I guess that I need a custom fit holster. Most of the year, I use OWB holster.

Best,
Rick

Can a K-Frame be carried in a pocket? with any comfort?

I have 3 K-Frame 2" revolvers and all have been carried in my pockets with ease!

I have 2 K-Frame 4" revolvers, The heavy or straight barreled Model 15 is too bulky for any of the pants I own but the tapper barreled Model 64 works fine in about half of my pants, they are the more loose verities!

I have 1 6" K-Frame a thin barreled Model 10-6. It won't work without any modifications to any pants pockets I own. I think it could be done, but why?

About comfort: I find the smallest checkered wood stocks that I can still shoot well with and carry using those. While the 2" Model 12 is the lightest, with a little time I don't find weight to be an issue.

I carried a 4" Model 15 in uniform and later a Model 10 snub as a uniform commander but find the snub (still have it) too heavy in retirement, especially for pocket carry.

Boss does your grip adapter have lines or checkering on the front? Or is it an optical illusion?

Dude, great eye! Yes, I put some rudimentary home made "checkering" on the front of the grip adapter.

The adapter is a BK, which I bought after waiting months for a Tyler that never materialized. The BK is great for shooting, but I found it too slippery for me. So I got out the Dremel and zip zip, instant checkering! The lines actually look like Helen Keller did the checkering, but they get the job done.

I've seen that photo of Bianchi. It's easy to carry that much hardware if you're just going to stand there for a photo. I'm sure a video of him trying to walk around and living his life would have been a completely different story.

Yes its in his book that I have a copy of. (Book is somewhere in a box with other items)

He has admitted he could hardly walk, but it does make for interesting pictures.:D

I got to think all are unloaded, as it would be a heck of a lot more weight and strain on clothes, harnesses and belts if not!

Ilif Richardson ("An American Guerilla in the Philippines") related how the commander of another PT boat carried several pistols and clips for a BAR and drowned when his PT boat was bombed. He got away but soon sank!

Depends on the size of the pocket, but I often pocket carry a 2.5" 66 in a cold weather jacket/coat.

The biggest gun I have frequently pocket carried is my 3" 686. The weight is actually a bigger concern than the size itself.

Have carried short barreled K-frame pistols in my front pants pocket. Have also carried a Glock G-22 on occasion. No real problem. Just regular kakis work pants, kind I wear routinely when I'm not wearing Carhartts. Little magna grips work well. One day hope to find and buy a little K-frame 2 inch snub nose w/ the little half-dime front sight. W/ round butt grips I think that thing would for me be ideal for day to day use. Sincerely. bruce.

Every time I see this gun on here I lust after it.

What're the exact specs again? Remind me, so that I may dream of building one myself.

That was a model 58 frame, mated with a bobbed model 29 barrel, and a model 29 cylinder. The grip frame was converted to a very close match to a current N frame RB. The barrel was shortened and a ball-detent locking device was added. It is currently chambered in 44 magnum, but when I purchased it, it was supposed to be 41 Rem Magnum. I haven't had the heart to make it back into a 41 Mag....yet :D

The stocks are Eagle Secret Service checkered boot style (don't try shooting a full box of mag loads - you will have a permanent imprint of the checkering on your hand afterwards ;) ) It is a lot of fun to shoot with my 240gr Kieth LSWC running about 1000-1100 fps. The Black Talons in 44 Mag were absolutely brutal.

Its classic really. Street thug pulls a knife on you and wants your wallet. You comply by reaching into a pants pocket and pulling out a 4" N frame.
I don't know whether it is classic or not. There are a lot of ifs, ands, and buts here. Might be reaching into a pants pocket and pulling out a cut throat, or a stabbed heart. A gun in a pocket does not necessarily, or even generally, trump a knife in hand. If you don't know for sure why it does, it probably doesn't.
