Such is with everything in life... but I have been particularly surprised with electronics over the years.
It was only about 10 years ago that I was convinced the picture on my Sony flat screen tube TV was so good there was no reason to get a flat panel 1080. But... soon after I got a new Sony flat panel I couldn't believe I had tortured myself watching that horrible tube picture all those years. Enter the new 4K today...
My latest surprise is the difference between a 1080 TV and our new 4K. I've been quite satisfied with our current Sony and was convinced there was no reason to get a 4K. Last week the wife decided we 'needed' a new TV (first world problems ya know
). So... she picked out a new Sony XBR49X900E. The difference in picture quality from our Sony 1080 is significant. Not quite the leap from tube to 1080, but significant. And the wife was delighted when I told her that the new Sony was designed to work with Alexa so she doesn't even need to pick up the remote control... Alexa TV on. Happy wife... happy home
.
Now I'm wondering how much bandwidth we'll be using watching Netflix 4k...
