Might as well toss another one out there. Missouri State Highway Patrol 50th Anniv. 900 made. 66-1 with all the goodies. I need a better shot of this one and the bowie knife.
Not sure if this is considered a "Comemorative" or a Ltd. Ed.
I suppose it comemorates the introduction of the 649 line and is mentioned in the 3rd ed SCSW page 266;
Unfortunately says nothing about the "1 of 100" marking.
My serial number also ends in the number 1 and I was always curiouse if they all said "1 of 100" or were individually marked 2,3,4,5 of 100 etc.
I have a Model 66, 4" barrel, U.S. Border Patrol. Sorry picture not available at this time. Cool things is that 3138 were issued in 1976. Mine is s/n USBP1976.
I realize this is an old post, but where's the knife? Actually, the knife is probably more valuable than the M66. I have no idea how many numered sets they produced. Surely fewer than the number of guns.
Long ago I tried to contact the USPB about things like badge numbers and who got what number. The answer I received here is that badges were pretty much reissued and didn't mean squat.
I also understand that original wood cases were available in cherry wood, and could hold both the gun and knife.
Here's mine. A model 10-8. Picked it up for $280CDN about five years ago. Locks up tighter than a bank vault and shoots very well. Marked 1 of 300 on the opposite side below the cylinder.
