We recently had a topic on what your screen names mean that was quite interesting, and gave me some insite into my fellow members.
I think a good follow up would be about our own avatars. Is is simply a pic of our favorite S&W. Is it a neat photo or movie still that we like, or does it have some other meaning.

I'll start. Mine is an aerial photo of the family farm in New Brunswick, Canada. It was taken from a WWI era biplane by a friend of my Great Uncle (Grandmother's brother) around WWII. In it you can see the buildings that my Great Grandfather built with hand tools and help from friends. All of them including the house. You can also see my great Grandfather's black Dodge, near the hen house.
Electricity was added to the house in either the 50's or 60's, IIRC. Indoor plumbing didn't come along until the early 90's. I have lots of good memories there as a teenager in the 80's. The house is now gone. In it's place is a thoughly modern mobile home where my aunt (Mom's brother's widow) still lives with two of her adult children.

Sorry, but the image gets to pixelated if I try to make it any larger.

Your turn. Who's next?

My avatar is a picture of all the guns I'll be able to afford in the future.

Mine is me shooting my 2.5" 686-3 @ an indoor range.
The photo was taken on a cell phone camera by a buddy of mine right as the shot broke, catching the muzzle blast perfectly.
We tried to get another shot that day, and never could catch one at the right time like this.

My avatar is just a picture of the old Gutpile standing on top of the ridge on St. Thomas island in the Caribbean. The picture is cropped out of a group with my wife and friends.

I live in Gonzales, Texas. Gonzales had been given a small cannon to chase off indians with. When the Mexican government sent the army to take in back in 1835, the citizens of Gonzales put up the "Come & Take It" flag. It wasn't much of a fight. The cannon at the museum now is small enough to fit in a duffle bag and I've been told that Gonzales didn't actually have any cannon balls, so they stuffed it with chains and nails. That was enough though. One shot and the Mexican army patrol took off. It wasn't much of a fight, but it was the supposed start of the Texas Revolution. I think I swiped the picture from the Chamber of Commerce website.

Side note: am I the only one who still uses dial up.. and therefore gets annoyed by the avatars that are a lot larger than 60 x 60 (or whatever the size is) that take long to load and jack up the message board?

Same here. On some of them, they actually fill my whole screen before they finally shrink down to fit where they belong. If I get tired of waiting and hit the main page link, or whatever, things go haywire.

I have to admit, I think mines 100x100, but photobucket or someone shrinks it down.

"things go haywire".. I'd say! As soon as I get a post on the screen and start to read it, someones big avatar shrinks down.. and then I have to find the post again.. as soon as I do.. another monstrous avatar shrinks down and I loose my place again!

(Your 100x100 isn't big enough to cause that...)
